I just finished the last episode of my fav show: Elementary...
I'm going to rant a little bit about Elementary and this episode rn so *spoiler alert * in case u r watching it or planning to do so
(edit: I think you can watch it on Amazon Prime.. And I'm sorry for editing this every time it pops up on my notifications lmaooo but I have so much to say jsjdjw)
I'm speechless. After 7 years, the show is over.
I remember how excited I was about the pilot and how much I enjoyed it.
Every season was incredible and had the perfect amount of little emotional bits that helped build the wonderful atmosphere of the show.
I mean, Sherlock discovered a bee species??? and called it "Euglassia Watsonia"?????? After Joan????? My dude got in love so fast lmao
Sherlock and Watson's chemistry was beautifully designed! The way their relationship develops feels natural and is accompanied by the growth of both.
I can see how that gender swap thing they did with Watson's character could get some people upset, it really looked like "an easy way to make them fall in love with each other"
Robert Wolf, one of the writers, said:
"(...) the decision to keep Sherlock and Joan platonic was Rob Doherty's from the very start."
So if you get pass that idea and give the show a chance, you'll see that what they gave us was really different ✨
We received a (really) slow burn that gave us a chance to see how the relationship grew, how they grew. No need for awkward kisses or sex between the two main characters. (As we know those are not the only ways people use to show love and affection and I'm glad the showrunners didn't force us to watch that lol)
Every meal together, the sleepless nights, the meaningful looks and even the fights were important to what their relationship morphed into.
(don't get me started on Sherlock waking up Watson and choosing her clothes??? Please??? That's so damn cute????)
We had two beings that, in the end, loved each other and would die for the other. That's not basically the soul of the books?
Heck, there's one scene in where *ex* captain Gregson talks to Sherlock and tells him that Joan was obviously the only person he loved, I mean aaaaaa
Even Sherlock told Watson that they were two people in love??? I need a bigger font!!!!!!
Luckily, to finish with the show, we didn't receive a kiss and screen fading to black, we received the theme song of the show with them walking to the captain's office, ready to work again as a team.
As partners, after all they went through 😭
I'm just thankful for this show and their writers, whom delivered a wonderful story of love, companionship and devotion without needing to push the characters to places they wouldn't fit.
Because Sherlock and Watson do not need to kiss for the world to understand that they love each other, obviously.
Idk I'm soft, I miss them and my english is terrible so ✨goodjbye✨ sjdksk
