“Good morning, Doctor.” Liskarm entered his office for her shift, setting a bracelet on his desk. “I brought you this.”
“Is it a friendship bracelet?” He stared at it for a bit, somewhat confused.
The Vouivre shook her head. “It’s an insulating band that will prevent you from getting shocked.”
“Ah! That’s really thoughtful.” But...wait. “As in shocked while touching you, yes?”
“...There are other Operators with electrical Arts, but yes.”
Interesting. “Do you mind if I test this now?”
“During the work day?” Her face colored an almost imperceptible amount. “If you like, I suppose.”
“Is shaking someone’s hand unusual during the work day?” The Doctor smiled beneath his hood; Liskarm’s aura wasn’t the only electricity in the room, apparently.
To her credit, she immediately recovered. “No, those are a normal part of proceedings. Here.” Still halfway hovering by his desk, she held out her hand.
“Excellent.” He put on the bracelet on his right hand, stood up, and shook hers. “Does this only insulate my one hand, or the rest of me?”
“It should protect you entirely from all but, say, a bolt of lightning.”
Fantastic. “Permission to touch?”
“You’re already shaking my hand.” The Vouivre glanced down at his other hand. “What’s your plan here, Doctor?”
“I want to hold your other hand, too.” Neither of them had let go after they’d finished the handshake.
The blush returned with a vengeance. “Why did I see this coming?”
“What can I say? I’m a tactile learner.” He flipped his hood back, revealing to her the way his eyes were lit up. “And I want to learn more about you.”
“...Permission granted.” She offered him her other hand, and for a moment, they stood there, looking at each other. Liskarm could feel sweat falling along her back and a current building in her horns, but this wasn’t a sudden occurrence. They’d been working together for several months now, after all-
He let go, his hair standing a bit on end. “Fascinating. Holding both of your hands more than doubles how quickly my own charge builds.”
“Your own charge?” This was the first she’d heard of that. “Do you also have electrical Arts and are only now telling me this?”
“Oh, no, I simply meant my energy level; simply being in the same room as you motivates me, but closer contact amplifies it further. I wonder...Are you free for dinner tonight?”
...Eh? “I don’t have any plans with Franka or the others, no.”
“In that case, will you meet me at the steakhouse at around...oh, 1800?” The Doctor swung his arms behind him, cracking his shoulders. “I’d like to explore this a bit further.”
“Wouldn’t it make more sense to do that somewhere more secure...more private?”
That caught him off-guard. “Well, I didn’t want to make any assumptions.”
“I appreciate that.” She smiled. “Until our shift’s done, though, we should probably get back to work.”
“Right, right, but um...where would you like to meet later tonight, if not at a restaurant?”
The Vouivre shrugged, turning to sit down. “My place or yours, whichever you’re more comfortable with.”
“You really reversed the polarity on me.” He chuckled at his own joke. “Alright, let’s get some work done, then.”
“I believe you mean all of the work,” she replied, finding herself unable to stop smiling. Throughout the day, Liz found her thoughts drifting to what might happen that evening...Heh. The Doctor certainly had a magnetic personality.
Hopefully she could fit that one into their conversation, somehow.

electromagnetism is just really cool, imo
