what a subtlety, one should consider. this is an equation he has yet to SOLVE: the intricacies of human connection. certainly, by now, the hostile intentions of “the common folk” have become easily disregarded ( or so he convinces himself ), but their lingering sharpness still stings&cuts, pushing him forth like a vulnerability. ( no wonder it was so easy for bill to earn his trust. ) & the only solace he can find is an empty validation he believes to be true. his gaze lingers at his paperwork, at the sprawling equations, before flitting elsewhere; the start of frustration clenches like a fist around his throat, & it takes him a moment to ( inhale&exhale ) find the words in his mouth & speak.
