Death the Wolf in RotG:
So I saw some cute af art of Death/The Wolf/La Muerte having a dynamic with Bunnymund (aka Spirit of Hope/Rebirth), and made me start thinking of how Death presence could influence the story.
He's not a Guardian. His role extends far beyond that.
He is one of many death entities. But he is *The* Death that chooses to reveal himself to the Guardians and their ilk.
After Manny, he is the first spirit Jack Frost encounters. After all, when Winter blows, Death is not far behind.
Death initially appears as a normal-ish wolf to Jack. It is only when the freshly "born" winter spirit starts asking questions does Death begin standing on two feet.
Death may or may not become a bit of a mentor/father-figure to Jack. The old wolf would never admit it, but he has a soft spot for the frosty lobito. The boy brings light to the harsh quiet of Winter.
Death knows what happened to Jackson Overland Frost. He does not feel it is Jack's burden to bear the heart of his past life, though the boy would argue otherwise.
The Wind knows Death well - he travels upon her much like how Jack does. He does find it a little annoying how she feels the need to announce his presence though,
Death is seen as an unsavoury but necessary fellow by the Guardians and other nature spirits. A real mood-killer at gatherings. But they like that he's willing to bend the rules if the situation amuses him.
Pitch is terrified of Death. Death knows this. Death savours the Boogeyman's fear. Fear is after all, a logic response based in preservation of one's life.
Death knows Mother Nature very well. They are polite acquaintances. He wonders if her father knows who she truly is.
Death's greatest rival is E Aster Bunnymund. With "The Easter Bunny" being a spirit of hope, rebirth, and Springtime; Death once thought the Pooka was Eostre herself. Death enjoys teasing the life spirit with his presence, and in turn, Bunny enjoys snatching Death's targets from him. Its a double smooth-talker/tsundere dynamic.
Bunny is usually the one called upon when people experience near-deaths. Him and Death get into pretty heated arguments whenever Bunny shows up to revive a cat.
Being a canine, Death hates chocolate. Bunny knows this and will openly flaunt his confectionary skills whenever the wolf enters the Warren.
When the subject of discussion is Jack; it can sound like two parents arguing over a child. North, Sandy, and Tooth have noticed.
Death knows of the loss the Guardian of Hope has endured. He finds it admirable that the Pooka still found the hope to continue living after the loss of his people. He is curious how slippery Bunny managed to outrun all those centuries though - Tsar Luna does play favourites after all
I am seriously considering writing a fic of this crossover.
Life and Death
HEAR ME OUT THO.
I just think they would have some really interesting interactions. The whole red/blue dichotomy. The idea that Roz SHOULDN'T be alive but she is. Flowers grow right on her body and limbs if given the chance. And she's dedicated herself to protecting and preserving the life around her.
Shrek in The Chains of Death: Prologue
Once upon a time, a man had twelve children. When his thirteenth was born, it was a healthy baby boy. He decided that this child deserved the best godparents he could find.
So, he set out on the road.
