I made a Drexel mercenary last night. She pulled a Waisen Dependent (3 pts) in her destiny spread. Being from Sieger, she had to take her hubris, which I pulled hedonistic. I can rationalize her hubris as her own PTSD from the War of the Cross coming through as "live in the moment, you might not be here tomorrow". Playing both her hubris and her background together will be a challenge. The hard part is... well, I don't know if I, the player, am emotionally equipped to play this. I'm a terrible human being, but if I had a bright, intelligent, lovely younger sister and I went away (to college, war, got married and moved out of state) and found out my parents died and I was now her sole support- and then I came home to find she was emotionally broken and completely mentally disabled, I don't think I could handle it. I think I would have pushed her into an orphanage and run for my life. Spending the rest of my life drowning in guilt for abandoning her might be preferable to that kind of eternal despair of knowing she can't get 'better' and the guilt for the daily resentment of not being able to live my own life because it was now all about keeping her safe- because neither of us would be 'living'.
