There was an eight legged hellian in my room so I threw a boot at it.
In related news there is now a boot shaped hole in my wall.

#INKTOBER SHORT STORIES - 20 - DEEP
I don’t draw, but I wanted to make something using the inktober prompts. So I decided to write some short stories. Here’s the twentieth story :
------
We slowly spread. The goal was to not get noticed before we could easily tip the scale in our favor. The oceans were rising, temperatures too. Silly humans. It all contributed to making the world better for us. There were setbacks of course. Those idiots tried to eat us, tried to poison us with all that damn plastic everywhere. They slowly murdered every other species in the ocean. Especially those they deemed “tasty”. We just watched from a distance, surviving, thriving in some parts. Humans aren’t good swimmers, so there’s lots of places where they cannot go. We expanded. Communicating with colors has always been more effective than the vibrations used by the humans, we could spread far and thin, our numbers slowly growing over time, hiding, waiting. Slowly, the humans started to notice the cities here and there. Small settlements of about 15 to 20 of us.
It took a couple aeons. But the cities got bigger, as did our constructions. After the period now known as the long wait we rose up and took over. This world is better off with us eight legged ones. We rule the oceans. Humans know better than roaming around on their boats. There were a lot at first, but the seafarers’ numbers have dwindled. We tipped their boats, dismantled them and ate the humans on board. They made for a good crunchy snack.
The humans fought back off course. They threw bombs and poison, decimating us by millions. But the ocean is a big place. We ruled long before they even knew we were a threat. There was no stopping us. They thought they’d won but we had infiltrated the harbors everywhere and launched a large scale attack on the borders of our land. At the same moment, all over the world, we tipped all ships and destroyed all human made constructions. Days later it was over. Humans almost entirely stopped coming up to the water anymore. It is a truce, of sorts.
Our cities grow ever larger. Soon we’ll have to take over the land.
Garden Spider
This is Bessie :) I found her at my old job about two years ago and she’s still going strong! I need to take some better pictures to add. I’m thinking Tegenaria sp. for an ID but still waiting confirmation.
