"Eid al-Adha has always been defined by its scents. In a normal world, today our small kitchen would be alive with the smell of roasting meat, rich broth, and spices. It is the feast of sharing, where no one goes hungry, and every mother takes pride in preparing a massive plate for her family and neighbors.

But this year, under a torn tent on the street, Eid smells only of dust, damp canvas, and burning plastic.

With the borders strictly closed, prices have become a cruel joke. The very essence of this Eid—the meat that is supposed to be distributed to everyone, the dishes that bring families together—does not exist here. Today, I looked at my children’s eyes as they watched other days pass just like this one, with empty stomachs and broken expectations. They didn’t ask for toys or new clothes; they just wanted a real meal. And as a mother, there is no sharper pain than standing entirely helpless before your own children’s simple hunger.

My husband remains bedridden, unable to walk, facing the constant threat of losing his leg because we cannot afford proper care or nutrition in this hyper-inflated reality. The world celebrated Eid and moved on, but for us, the nightmare continues on the hot pavement.

We don't need a miracle of grand proportions; we just need enough kind hearts to see us through this silence. Even a shared post or a small contribution can change our reality for tomorrow. Please don't let our story end in these ruins."
