Hello! I'm genuinely just curious, is there a reason why you dislike your art being on Pinterest?
hi! yeah there’s many reasons! the main being that it makes my art more accessible to large companies and other businesses and opens doors for them to steal my work and use it on their products or trace it for their own designs. I recently have just dealt with a rather large phone case company (not casetify - i work with them!) who had done exactly this and they admitted that their design team took my drawings from pinterest. They traced several of my designs to create a phone case collection, which turned out to be a bestseller within a matter of months and they have made hundreds of thousands from, and i haven’t been compensated or credited. It’s also incredibly hard to control posts on there and now there are thousands of reposts of my work with no credit linking back to me, majority have also been deliberately cropped to remove my watermark. when you work so hard to create a style and brand, it’s really upsetting to see everytime i open the app. people seem to think because i post on a public domain that it’s theirs to take and use. i think people often forget there’s a real human behind most art that’s made these days (let’s ignore AI art because f*ck that lol). but yeah sorry for the long answer i deffo could say more but i will spare you. all i ask is if you really need or want to upload my work onto there (as i don’t post it there myself) that you please link it to my instagram post of the original! thank you <3
