“After finishing yaja (usually ends at 10 pm, but later than 11 pm at some schools), they return home after studying, then return to specialty study schools (which are called Hagwon) often till 2 am, from Monday to Friday. In addition, they often study on weekends.”

In Mexico, are there universities/colleges that are free? Ones that do not require you to pay anything more than maybe admission and documentation fees, which are reasonable?
Indeed! Most of the best and prestigious universities in the country belong to the government, because we have a socialist system. Most of them, were born around the time of one of our post-revolutionary presidents, Lázaro Cárdenas, socialist president.
Practically some of the money gained from our taxes are used to fulfill those universities expenses (supposedly)
So yeah, one only has to pay for the admission and that is all. Even oftenly students can get financial support such as scholarships.
Same anon. I didn't know that in the US high school is 3 years total. But also, in Spain we start high school at 12. I think in America there's this "middle school" thing but I don't know what ages it covers before starting High school at 15. It's a pretty different educational system, that's for sure.
It’s four years (15, 16, 17, 18 plus or minus a year for ages usually). Middle school is a term used in some places but not others, and where it’s used it’s three years and covers students approximately aged 12-14. In New Orleans middle school isn’t a separate institution but is the last part of primary/elementary school, with the last year now being covered by Catholic high schools as well as some public ones.
