shoutout to @ayoomide for this graphic!
However, being a Black man in America today has become EXTREMELY tiresome, scary, disheartening, traumatizing and overall just draining. My heart goes out to all of my Black brothers and sisters who have been brutally murdered, attacked and targeted in a society that never meant for us to be seen as equal. I hope our community can continue to find unity within each other and the power to stay strong in whatever capacity that you are able to — Whether that be protesting, petitioning, donating, calling or what not. Most importantly, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES! To those who don’t identify as Black and are wanting to be allies and of support to the Black community: check in on your “friends”, donate, petition and MOST importantly — bring these issues up to your family members and friends who (on a daily basis) enjoy the music, shows, fashion and other forms of entertainment and media that are being produced by Black folks! Also, remember that your silence speaks volumes. Think of your silence as a failure to recognize our struggle and a compliance with the structures that stand against us and if you’re okay with that, go ahead and unfollow me now. What we are witnessing and experiencing on a daily basis is not something we take lightly because we value our bodies and the bodies of our community. Do you?
