-When a smut novel is labelled as a romance novel, like hell yeah, you can have a romance book with smut but not when it shows more than the actual romance

-"dark romance," but it's rape, toxic relationships, and the list goes on. Isn't dark romance supposed to have a dark theme (romantic goth?? A romance novel with a dark atmosphere?? A romantic horror, I'm just making up shit at this point)

-modern slow burns, GOSH, at least make it a duology. Slow burns are supposed to be SLOW. It develops! I think it should be a way to describe the book like "Oh yeah, this book has a slow burn between two characters, but they dont get together until the middle of the second book" type thing

-enemies to lovers, it's never an enemies to lovers, it's just sorta rivals who fuck and end up as a couple somehow

-back to the smut shit (I have a lot to complain about smut), smut scenes that are in PUBLIC? I know there are people who are into that, but usually, public sex falls under the crime of indecent exposure (if caught)*

-romantasy (or romantic fantasy) Sure, a romantic fantasy is nice, but I heard VERY mixed opinions on it. Some say it's good, some say it's mid, I'm confused. I once watched a video essay about a romantic fantasy (fourth wing), and from the video, the lady said that the writing was crap and the characters weren't very well written as well

-icebreaker. I obviously had to mention this horrible beast. The writer must have been on something to make this, I never touched icebreaker gladly (I touched two weeks' notice by Witney G. Last time i'm touching a straight romance), but I heard a lot of terrible things about it

-teacher x student romances, I think this is very obvious (or should be), but there are still people writing teacher x student romances, I've gladly only seen teacher x student romances that take place in collage since i sometimes watch book commentary videos, but teacher x student romances are still weird

-and finally, we're at the final one and it's ...drum roll pls, one character that's like 400 years old and the other is like 20, it's mostly in fantasy novels but still it's odd to me, maybe it's because I don't understand romance as much as others so I may say things that are typically "romantic" odd, but this one is just no. You're telling me you didn't want them to be the same age??? Micheal fucking holden is around the same age as tori and he said "I think I've been looking for you my entire life" ON A BURNING SCHOOL TOP, and then he helped her get somewhere safer, I might have taken an example from a YA literary novel but it's one good example for two characters who are around the same age and still had the "I think i was made for you" thing (sorta but I still love sprolden) , it might be hard to write a good male lead but you can always take examples or inspiration from well written male characters from certain medias (Todd Chavez, I've heard of him from a video about asexual representation, may I say leone abbachhio from jjba? I would say Neil Perry from dps, too, CHARLIE FROM PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, CHARLIE FROM THE OSMANVERSE TOO, there are genuinely good examples out there) so bottom line I might not get into romantic fantasy but I will be listening if there would be any improvements on the age gaps
