Three unpopular opinions?? Oof, I dunno that I have that many remaining but let’s try! Tbh I think these are more common sense than unpopular opinions?
1 – No one should "gatekeep" their writing partners. It’s happened to me a couple of times where I was isolated from a fandom because that person wanted me all to themselves. It was a terrible feeling, and they were extra abusive every time. Again, I would like to re-iterate this is a hobby. It’s not serious, and it shouldn’t be serious. People are allowed to write with whoever they feel like without fearing the wrath of someone else. If you feel someone is trying to gatekeep you, get the hell outta there FAST.
2 – Graphics are cool. Yes, they are. Are they an integral part of writing? I think so. Should it influence whether you write with that person or not? No. But they are fun to look at and I enjoy them very much when my partner uses them.
3 – You shouldn’t post all your personal info on your carrd/pinned. Post an approximate age. For example, I’m in my early 40’s, so I’ll write 40+. Don’t list all your illnesses. Don’t give people a way to find you irl. I see SOOOOO many people write way too much about themselves in their pinned/carrd and honestly, I get worried. I used to do that, mind you, because I lived in my little lalaland where people were inherently good. I found out eventually that wasn’t the case. (They are, but assholes are louder). I’ve seen people get doxxed on here. Post approximation, not your real name, and for the love of god, nothing that can get you found irl.
