Image 1: So jumping right into things, we can see in the bottom right corner some of the UI elements but I want to focus on the “Full Auto” text. In an image below we see that the gun in hand is DAHL, and so we get a glimpse of the current firing mode reflected which we will be able to switch to semi-auto if we so desire. We also get a nice clear Incendiary logo that is safe to presume will always be on our screen.
In the top right corner of the screen we can see our mini-map reflecting multiple levels of the map. The blue area represents the current level, while the grey depicts the level below. Assuming we jumped in that hole in the ground, the blue would shift to our current level which is the grey area depicted above.
Image 2: In the weapon stats we get a clear indication of the Maliwan perk of switching between two elements, this particular sniper housing both Incendiary, and Radiation elemental effects.
We can see a Challenge completed titled “Meridian Metroplex Red Chests” which leads me to believe a couple things, one being the most obvious is that this is what this particular chest is called. Which means there may be multiple “red chests” throughout the game.
Also Meridian Metroplex almost sounds like a map or city location, maybe the city we caught a glimpse of in the trailers...
Image 3: Across all screens that have our Vault Hunter hovering over a lootable item, we get an “Item Score” in the top left corner of the item’s ECHO projection. For example, the grenade above has an Item Score 100. This score will go up as the rarity and strength of the loot we find goes up. This will not only be helpful to new players coming into Borderlands 3 unsure of what features to look for, but also for veteran players to the series who are unsure of some of the new features.
Image 4: “Handling” is a new feature added to our arsenal of weapons to further differentiate them from each other. Likely this will take into account both weapon sway and recoil.
A new feature is the “+20% Weapon Charge Speed”. We got glimpses of what looked like “Charge Weapons” in the trailers but now we have in-writing proof of that. Weapon parts will play a role in determining gun stats like our newly added charge speed.
While comparing our in-hand weapon to a weapon we are considering looting, the on-screen weapon comparison seems to have an upgrade. Rather than just a green up arrow or a red down arrow to indicate a higher or lower gun stat, we get the whole stat colored red or green. Again, makes for a quick easy decision to new players.
Side note: This Chest was a Maliwan Chest.
