Something I've noticed as I've replayed Ebon Light is that there are things the characters say that I find rather encouraging.
Like this little line: "There are choices everywhere, darling."
I'd like someone to tell me this just about every morning, whether they add the "darling" or not!

I hate when you get obsessed with a fandom only to find out there's like 6 fanfics because you somehow found a niche interest. So, you occasionally go back to check and yet all is still the same.

Death & the Maiden in Ebon Light
I've lost track of how many ways I blundered off the mortal coil in Ebon Light by @underbliss.
It's not that I've been totally reckless or that it's happened every other scene, but there are a lot of ways to die in this VN. And this isn't a complaint; it totally makes sense, given the dangerous situations the MC finds herself in.
I usually die early on in visual novels or when there are scenes that call for the MC to be stubborn AF, even in the face of Very Bad People. But I've found myself facing "The End" screen later on in the story and in later playthroughs.
I've also found myself giggling, calling over to my husband to let him know it's happened again, and singing "Duuuuumb ways to die!" happily to myself.
I'm amused by how much it continues to amuse me. Just when I think I've found them all, there's one more way to take a dirt nap. And facing a sudden end doesn't slow you down for long. You can scroll back and undo choices using the mouse wheel instead of having to load a previous save, so starting over is as easy as it gets.
It ain't just the aesthetics that are goth in this game, folks.
