Ippo returns to the ring and fights some bouts. Kamogawa thinks he's ready for Ricardo but first Ippo wants to redeem himself by facing Alfredo Gonzalez again... Except he retired.

They go for the next best thing... the Alfredo-copycat Mateo.

Mateo, whose now the Mexico's national featherweight champ after Jose Nargo, accepts the offer. (Mainly because he's the guy who beat Sendo, and if he beats him he's retroactively beating Sendo who beat Alf; also he's a fan of Ippo obviously.)

Ippo wins.

Ricardo is next. Mateo does a Ricardo echo profile for Ippo because Ippo's fists make everyone fall in love with him... Mateo retires after his match with Ippo.

IDK how mermaid au works BUT I like to think Mia is a bad guy henchmen and it's a bittersweet journey but she redeems herself but loses an eye in the process.

She loved growing up skateboarding in 90s California. Her late uncle did some custom artwork on her board and she cherishes it to this day.
