god bless your “noel’s gender issues” tag 🛐 i just saw the Easy Now mv (love that milly plays a young noel) and now i’m wondering, if the song is a letter to himself, do u think “i see you up and down the lane, but i don’t know your name or the places that you hide” could be about how elusive/mysterious he finds his queer identity?
could be! it's always extremely difficult to know how much involvement noel has with any given music video, unless he or someone else involved specifically says he did, bc of course he infamously fucking hates music videos and avoids having anything to do with them as much as possible. by which i mean, it's hard to say whether his thought process behind the writing/meaning of easy now aligns with the apparent gender stuff shown in the mv, or if someone else had a random idea for the mv and he shrugged and said yeah whatever do what you want. i wouldn't THINK that any subconscious/subtle references to his (alleged... for the record...) Gender Issues in the song itself would be so explicitly reflected in something as undeniable as a music video, but THEN AGAIN......... pretty boy. lol. so who knows!
that being said, if that song is in any way about his feelings on his (alleged.....) queerness, the next lines of that verse are also painfully compelling re years of being closeted for the sake of oasis/fame/wives/family: but if you trade all the love you ever made for what you gave away, well i wonder what you'd find....
