my wonderful boyfriend got me these beautiful ear weights for my birthday 🖤
Earring and ear weight collection
I have a post showing my collection of plugs and tunnels, so I thought it would be nice to do another showing all my hanging ones too. I'll probably also do a third showing all my labret studs but I just placed an order for some new ones so I'll wait for those to arrive first.
As my lobes are stretched I don't wear them on conventional earring hooks, instead I remove whatever findings they have and then hang them from my ears using a hinged "clicker" ring, the kind folks will often wear in a septum, through a tunnel.
I display them like this as it's nice to be able to appreciate my full collection even when I'm not wearing them, and I find I will wear them more often if I can see them rather than having them put away in a jewellery box. There's only one pair which I don't have out here and we'll get to those...
Most of these were thrifted, home made or are just charms that I've chosen to wear as earrings. I get a ton of compliments whenever I wear the crows with the crescent moon on them, but they're just some cheap charms that I think originally came from Ali Express or Temu (I bought them at a slight markup from a UK reseller).
Here are some honourable mentions that don't fit those categories. First has to be my wedding earrings. These are onyx and marcasite. When I first stretched my ears I was sad I couldn't wear these anymore, until I realised I could modify them. They look like they need a polish!
These are from Katie Whittle, an etsy seller who I've also met a number of times at conventions. They're wooden, handpainted, and although they're large they're extremely lightweight. Flies might not be for everyone but I love them 😁
These are from a seller called Deviant Angel Emporium. All their stock is great and very reasonably priced, but Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of those movies from my formative teenage years that is very important to me, so I had to have them.
These ones were bought at a comic con and I'm really annoyed I didn't save the sellers details as they had a lot of great stuff. Christmas isn't really something that I care too much about, but I love Krampus.
I did a post about these not too long back, but they're worth sharing again - my labradorite hangers. At 12 grams they don't really qualify as weights, but they're my heaviest "earrings". These would probably be extremely uncomfortable if they were worn in regular pierced lobes, but I can wear them in my stretched ones all day with no problems at all.
And lastly, the big boys that live in their own box: my white brass bat weights. Again I've shared these before, but I wouldn't miss an opportunity to share them again. These are my only true weights, at about 75 grams each. I bought them from my body piercer, but I've since discovered the original seller is a company called Symmetry Body Jewellery who do tons of really beautiful weights. Yeah they were a bit pricey, you can get cheaper mass produced bat hangers, but when you see and feel these you can tell where the extra money went.
I can wear these for a couple of hours with no discomfort, although having that much weight hanging from your ears does feel a little strange at first!
Heavy weights and hangers are only intended to be worn for a few hours at a time, and not every single day, you need to have breaks or you can hurt yourself or over stretch your lobes (weights arent supposed to be used for stretching because they put all the pressure at the bottom, causing stretching to be uneven).
There are many folks far more experienced at wearing weights than I am who can wear much heavier ones than this for a long time, but you have to work up to that!
I am currently on the lookout for some slightly lighter mid range weights, but as I said above the good quality ones are expensive and my bats have kinda spoiled me for the cheaper alternatives. I will reblog when I've found some that I can't do without!
Finally got around to buying some ear weights :)
I love them

Bat ear weights/hangers
Oh wow, I just got my first set of ear hangers. I honestly never thought I'd want any, but I saw these when I visited my body piercer on Saturday and I couldn't stop thinking about them after I left, so I had to go back and get them.
They were not cheap but I never buy expensive jewellery (all my stuff is thrifted and home-made) and I was helping a small business so I feel as a one-off it's OK. And just *LOOK* at them, even the backs are super detailed and beautiful. I've seen a ton of bat earrings online, but never anything quite like this! These are not temu/Ali Express/wish rubbish, they're super high quality.
I will definitely have to train myself to wear them as they're pretty heavy (75g each). I have no experience of wearing heavy hangers or weights and I know you need to work up to it - maybe only wear for an hour at first then don't wear them again for a few days, increase the time you wear them very gradually etc.
I might make myself a necklace or choker that I can attach them to so I can wear them even when they're not in my ears.
Edit: when I showed them to my husband he immediately said he'd give me the cash for them as an early anniversary present 🎁 🥹💜
the same song has been playing in my head all day an it its likely this will presist until the end may
But it's folk music so whatever
Impulsive purchase of the day as early birthday gift to myself.
