XD, I forgot I made this drawing a while ago XD, but anyway, Blitz and Aster are some of my favorite characters from @e-vay , and I wanted to draw them along with my other pair of twins. I hope you like it @e-vay

Story Teaser: Tails surprises CC with an impromptu getaway... but will their mode of transportation allow them to depart?

LoveBytes:  Come Fly With Me

Tails was standing impatiently in the doorway to CC's and his bedroom, while CC frantically searched through her dresser and closet:  “C’mon CC, the point of a spur-of-the-moment getaway is to just GO, and get away!”

CC held up outfit after outfit, trying to decide which ones to bring:  “But Tails, Darling… I must pack the proper clothing!  In case we are going to the beach… the mountains… a fancy dinner…”  She threw a corresponding garment in her travel bag at each suggestion, continuing to look for just the right ensemble.

Tails finally couldn’t wait any longer, gently taking her arm and coaxing her out of the room as she hurriedly closed her bag:  “I think you’re all set.  You’re gonna LOVE this!”

CC was both excited and inquisitive as they ran towards the door:  “So what is our destination?  And how are we traveling?  The convertible?  The SUV?  A limousine?”

Tails shook his head:  “Where we are going is a surprise!  And we’re not taking a car… I thought we’d rely on an old friend to get us there…”

They rushed out the door and across the field aside of their house, arriving in front of Tails’ hangar. The Tornado was parked outside, shiny and prepped for flight.  Upon seeing Tails' trusty biplane so prominently displayed (and obviously the 'ride' for their journey), CC suddenly looked highly apprehensive:  “Um, Tails… it is very sweet of you to want to pilot us to this mystery location… wherever that may be… but while we are in transit we should relax together…”  Her eyes glazed over as she searched the MobiNet:  “I have located a luxury jet we can charter for our private use… it can depart within the hour regardless of our destination…”

Tails was surprised at his wife’s suggestion:  “It’s no trouble at all!  Flying in the open air is amazingly relaxing... nothing beats the feel of the wind in your fur while you’re skimming about the clouds!”  He affectionately patted his biplane on the starboard flank:  “And this baby glides through the air as smooth as silk… plus you’ve never flown in the Tornado!”

CC still looked nervous:  “Yes, well… about that…”

Suddenly the propeller spun several cycles, blowing a black cloud of diesel smoke directly at CC and making a distinctly rude noise: 

BRRRAAAAAAPPPP!!!!

Tails' jaw dropped, shocked at what he just saw and heard:  “CC… did my plane… just give you… the Raspberry?!?”

CC coughed as the smoke cloud cleared, brushing some of the diesel ash from her fur and outfit:  “This is… very awkward…” she sputtered, more than a bit embarrassed.  “But allow me to explain:  before you and I… were betrothed… I was… quite jealous of you.  I may have… had unkind words... with several of your legacy machines… including your biplane…”

The Tornado's propeller spun again and the exhaust huffed, shooting another cloud of smoke at CC.

CC blushed brightly at the aircraft’s continued disdain:  “I… perhaps indicated… the Tornado did not do enough… to keep you safe before we met.  That the Tornado... allowed you to take… too many chances…”

Tails smiled at CC knowingly and lovingly, giving her a gentle side-hug:  “But still here we are... together." The Fox continued, reminiscing: "I was young and adventurous back then. I'll admit I took way too many risks to get done what needed to be done… but that’s how Sonic and I viewed the situations in our younger years.”  He patted the plane:  “And if anything it was ME who put the Tornado in danger more often than not.”  The Tornado returned a contented propeller buzz at Tails’ words as the Fox continued:  “I’m just glad I was able to fix the damage…”

CC looked at her husband and his plane appreciatively:  “She says there are no hard feelings on her part… at least towards you.”

Tails was surprised at CC’s familiar address of his trusty biplane:  “‘She?’  I thought you didn’t want me talking to any other girls!”

“It is… customary that noble vessels such as the Tornado are addressed with feminine pronouns,” responded CC coyly.  “And in my… admittedly terse… exchanges with the Tornado I have noted a tendency towards this gender association in her software as well.”  CC’s look softened as she continued:  “And no, I am no longer jealous of the Tornado.  I have come to realize she has a much… different… relationship with you than I do… but no less special.”

The Tornado returned an inquisitive propeller burst at the Robian’s admission, removing some more of the diesel soot from CC’s fur.

CC sighed with resolve:  “Yes, Tornado… I forgive you for your outburst.  I only hope you can in turn forgive me for my… prior misguided words towards you.”  

A longer propeller blast directed towards CC was the biplane’s response, further cleaning CC’s fur and outfit.  Once the blade spun down, the plane followed by emitting electronic computation sounds from its onboard AI.

CC was pleasantly surprised at the content of this data burst:  “Why, thank you Tornado!”  She turned to Tails to explain:  “The Tornado has added me as an ‘approved device’ within her firewalls.  We can now freely communicate while we travel to our destination!”  CC gave the Tornado’s fuselage a tentative but affectionate pat:  “I hope to ‘make up for lost time’ and become great friends during our journey!”  The Tornado agreed with an appreciative propeller blast and electronic noises, anticipating her rapprochement with CC.

Tails loaded their luggage into the cargo compartment and helped CC into her seat, as the Tornado gently applied the automatic flight harness to ensure CC would stay safely ‘buckled in’ during their journey.  Tails completed his pre-flight checklist and hopped into the pilot’s seat, donning his flight goggles and firing up the engine, which hummed melodically.  The Tornado buckled him into his seat as they glided down the runaway, smoothly ascending into the skies.

CC grinned broadly as the biplane climbed into the puffy clouds floating overhead, the wind blowing through her synthetic fur:  “Oh, Tails… you are correct!  This is… most exhilarating!”

“I knew you’d like it, Dearest!” beamed Tails.  “Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the view… it’s a little bit of a flight to where we’re going but we’ll be there before you know it!”

The Tornado twittered happily at both Tails and CC, engaging the Robian in pleasant conversation about the Wedding and other recent events, as well as some of the adventures the Plane and Fox shared over the years before CC and he met.

After a couple hours, CC realized they had flown beyond the mainland and were over open water.  She keyed her comm link to Tails:  “Sweetheart, we are over the Ocean!  May I now know where we are going?  Somewhere exotic?”

Tails smiled knowingly:  “Absolutely!  We are headed to fabulous…”

So Happy It’s Thursday…

Epilogue: Another Beginning?

The DJ spun an upbeat dance tune as the guests continued to enjoy the party.  Dennie looked around the crowd, appreciative that she was included in this most happy occasion.  As she listened to the music, a curious look crossed her face, and she made her way across the room to the booth where the DJ was crafting the soundtrack to their celebration:

“Excuse me, Mr. DJ?” asked Dennie nervously.  “Are guests allowed to… suggest music to be played?”  The DJ looked up from his mixing station, smiling broadly at the pretty attendee addressing him:  “Of course!  It’s the best to play requests from our guests!  What would you like to hear?”

Dennie looked puzzled:  “ I… am not sure.  I hear so much wonderful music in Tails’ Lab but I am not always… able to reference it.”  She frowned somewhat as she tried to remember at least some of the lyrics:  “I believe the song recalls making great achievements:  climbing mountains, scaling walls… being warm then cold… yet still searching for… something…”  The DJ looked at her thoughtfully:  “Hmmm… sounds like you’re talking about ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’…”

Her smile returned, and her face lit up like the sun: “Yes!  That is the one!  I would be… most grateful if you would play it!”  “Absolutely!”  returned the DJ, beaming back at the delighted wedding guest.  “Now you have me wondering if I can make a request as well.”  Dennie was curious at his statement:  “Oh?  What is it that I can do for you?”  “Perhaps you could… give me your phone number?”  asked the DJ shyly. “So maybe… we can talk more later?”

Dennie wasn’t sure how to react.  She was pleasantly surprised, slightly embarrassed, yet happy all at once:  “You would want… to talk… to me?” she squeaked.  “Why not?” replied the DJ, smiling to reassure her.  “You’re quite beautiful and seem so nice… and I’ve noticed you’ve been walking around the reception hall all by yourself.  That doesn’t strike me as quite right… for you to be here alone.”

She blushed in response to his compliments and observations and noticed the DJ was rather cute himself, but she was nervous of what he would think… if she told him she wasn’t Organic.  A red message flashed in her vision at that thought:  <MAINTAIN EMULATION>.  Dennie knew that was from her core programming as an Infiltrator… but that wasn’t who she was now.  She felt compelled by CC and Tails’ acceptance of her to follow their examples of kindness and honesty… even if it meant being rejected by others.

Dennie smiled nervously at the DJ:  “I am… happy that I stand out to you.  But… I want to be honest.  There is something about me… you should know.”  The small panel in Dennie’s chest just below her neck slid open, revealing her status screen and I/O ports.  “I am… a Robian.  A robot.  A… machine.”  Her voice seemed sad as she spoke, her gaze dropping to the floor.

The DJ’s smile never faded:  “I’m a bit surprised but not shocked.  Many of the guests tonight are ‘Inorganic,’ but that doesn’t make them any less welcome… or any less alive.”  He gently touched her chin and guided her eyes to meet his:  “You included.  What you are shouldn’t change at all how others feel… and definitely doesn’t affect how I see you.”  Dennie was flattered, and a bit surprised that the DJ was still interested in her:  “You are… certain?  It was not my intention to deceive you.”

“If you intended to deceive me, you wouldn’t have said anything,” reasoned the DJ.  “But you never pretended to be something that you’re not.  And honestly, I never would have guessed that you weren’t Organic if you hadn’t told me.”  He looked into her eyes earnestly:  “Either way, I’d still like to talk with you more.”

Dennie gave the DJ a satisfied smile:  “I will… consider your request then…” She closed her chest panel, turned and walked away, coyly grinning while looking over her shoulder at the DJ.  He was disappointed that this pretty Robian apparently didn’t return his interest, but after he programmed the next group of songs into his mixing unit, his phone buzzed with an incoming message:

“It was very pleasant to make your acquaintance, Mr. DJ.  I would enjoy corresponding by this method to begin our conversations.  Perhaps we can meet again face-to-face if we continue to develop a rapport.  Please contact me at any time.  I am always here.  Sincerely, Dennie.”

Dennie watched from across the room, monitoring the DJ’s reaction as he read her message.  He looked at his phone, smiling broadly.  The introduction to the song she requested wafted from the speakers, as the DJ announced:  “And now a special request for a special guest!”   She blushed again as a notification for an incoming message appeared in her vision:  

“Thank you for the contact, Dennie.  It was great to meet you.  I hope you enjoy your song.  I’m looking forward to talking with you again. Maybe we can both find what we are looking for.  All the best, Danny Jerboa (yes my real name is DJ)”  

Dennie noticed her internal temperature rising slightly as she read the message, and she smiled as she gazed towards the music station.  DJ returned her smile and waved back discreetly.  I will need to ask CC about relationships, Dennie thought.  I want to be… prepared… if this progresses as well as it did… for her and Tails.

Chapter 10 - Reception Receptions

“Okay folks, it’s that time… ladies… gather around for CC’s bouquet toss!”  The DJ’s announcement and accompanying music sent all the single ladies scurrying for the dance floor as CC positioned herself on the dais to lob her flower arrangement into their midst… and perhaps predict who would be the next in the reception hall to walk down the aisle with their beau.

The Robian studied the ladies jockeying for position, taking careful note of their location and running simulations to predict where they would move next.  Tails gently tapped her on the shoulder:  “Uh, Hon… you do know that you need to toss the bouquet before our friends trample each other, right?”  CC giggled and turned to give her hubby a quick peck:  “I am aware, Darling… however I am calculating the best odds for a… certain outcome.”  Tails smiled knowingly, as CC’s face again showed intense concentration.

She suddenly appeared confident, and lobbed the bouquet into the group wrestling back and forth.  The flowers bounced off a couple pairs of hands, towards the outside of the circle and into the arms of… Valerie Braun.  Val blushed and smiled appreciatively at CC, who was waving back at her friend and blowing congratulatory kisses.  Sonic tapped William on the shoulder and pointed over towards Valerie, who was holding her trophy aloft and grinning broadly back at her beau.

“What an incredible catch!”  exclaimed the DJ. “And good luck to that lovely lady’s boyfriend!”  William blushed bright red at the emcee’s statement and made his way over to Valerie, who hugged him around the neck:  “Well, when do we start making plans there, kiddo?”  she grinned.  “Uh… one thing at a time?” returned Will nervously.  Val laughed and kissed William to the cheers of the crowd, whispering to him as she fiddled with his lop-ear: “I’ll give you a pass… for now.”

On the other side of the ballroom, a white-and-black speckled Robian dressed in a dapper formal suit was also enjoying the reception.  He scanned the room slowly and carefully, taking time to look in particular at Tails and CC as well as the wedding party.  “Are you receiving an adequate feed, Dr. Robotnik?”  An image of the Doctor appeared in the Infiltrator’s side vision.  “Receiving clearly, R043, thank you,” responded Robotnik.  “It was a beautiful ceremony and appears to be a very… entertaining after-party.”  The roboticist sighed as he reclined in his chair, observing another slow dance through his monitors:  “I hope the gifts I sent will be well-received.”

A smiling image of a grey-furred Robian appeared on a side monitor:  “Yes, Ivo… we greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness.”  Robotnik startled at the sudden appearance of CC on his video feed, sitting bolt upright in his chair:  “Ms. Compiler!  I mean, Mrs. Prower… I didn’t expect…” CC smiled broadly: “Of course you didn’t.  I was aware when I invited Roger to the Ceremony and Reception that he was outfitted with a surveillance device you had installed. I allowed this to be active so you could observe our wedding and celebration… in gratitude for expertly restoring several of our ‘friends’ and allowing them to remain with us.”

“Th-thank you Mrs. Prower,” replied Robotnik, nervously.  “I assure you, I meant no…” “Your intentions are quite clear,” interrupted CC, her virtual brow furrowing.  “And be assured that Roger’s device will be completely and permanently inactive after the conclusion of our Reception.”  Ivo slumped in his chair:  “I expected as much had the device been detected.  Thank you for letting me observe this momentous event.”  CC’s smile returned:  “You are welcome.  And as long as you remain… somewhat friendly… with our Group, you may call me CC.”

The Doctor bridged his hands and smiled in appreciation:  “Thank you again, CC.  It is… an effort to change my perspective on this world and your circle of friends.  But if it engenders more close correspondence with AI such as yourself, it is well worthwhile.”  CC raised an eyebrow:  “Careful, Ivo… I am a married Robian.  And you do not want to anger my overprotective husband…” Ivo looked insulted:  “I stand true to my word, Mrs. Prower:  that I shall not actively take any action to harm Miles or yourself.”

“As a close friend of mine is fond of saying, ‘Time will tell,’” quipped CC.  “Perhaps if you continue to… trend in this direction more consistently, we can invite you to attend similar gatherings in person.”  Ivo looked appreciative, but wary:  “With a ‘plus one,’ even?”  “Again, time will tell…” laughed CC.  “Please enjoy the remainder of our reception.  Good evening, Doctor.”  CC’s image winked off the monitor, replaced by a zoomed-out image of the Robian with her husband and wedding party, smiling knowingly at the camera operated by Roger.

Story Teaser: It's CC and Tails' first dance... and it's truly a dream come true...

Chapter 9 - The Dance Revisited

“Ladies and gentlemen, Mobians, Robians, and ‘Fab ‘bots… it is my pleasure and honor to introduce for their first dance as a couple your hosts, Dr. and Mrs. Miles Prower!”

Tails and CC rose from their seats at the head table to the polite and enthusiastic applause of their wedding party and gathered friends in the Reception Hall.  The DJ smiled at the Couple as they reached the parquet dance floor, which was still littered with flower petals and confetti from Tails’ and CC’s grand entrance.  As they joined hands, looking lovingly into each other’s eyes, the music started as a gentle piano melody, joined quickly by a progression of guitar and bass power chords.  The Fox and Robian held each other closely, gliding to the music as the vocals began:

You know our Love was meant to be, the kind of Love that lasts forever And I want you here with me, from Tonight until the End of Time…

“Your dancing has improved remarkably,” quipped CC, chuckling slightly.  Tails returned her smile:  “After our last formal ‘event,’ I knew I needed to step up my game.  Everything had to be perfect today.  For you.  For us…”  They looked dreamily at each other as the song continued:

You should know, everywhere I go… always on my mind In my heart, in my soul. Baby, You’re the meaning in my life, You’re the Inspiration You bring feeling to my life, You’re the Inspiration Wanna have you near me, I wanna have you hear me sayin’, No one needs you more than I… need… you…

“Did I get the song right?” Tails asked CC gently.  “Definitely,” she responded breathily, as they came together to pause and share a tender kiss at the lyrics.  “It is most… inspiring...”

Their friends on the dais all smiled warmly at the music and song, so perfect for this couple and for their relationships as well.  Sonic and Amy held each other while they watched Tails and CC dance, as did Knuckles and Rouge.  Shadow in particular was very moved by the lyrics and the love displayed between the happy couple, dropping his stoic facade to smile broadly as they all enjoyed the second verse of their song:

And I know (and I know), yes I know that it’s plain to see (to see, to see, to see); So in Love when we’re together… Now I know (now I know), that I need you here with me (here with me); From tonight until the end of time…

Aurora elbowed Shadow in the side, hugging him while she whispered in his ear: “What a lovely song… you better be taking notes, bucko!”  Shadow turned towards her:  “My Light… I am always taking notes on how I can make you happy.  But let us enjoy and be happy for the Fox and his Lady for now.”  Aurora and Shadow kissed tenderly as the music continued:

You should know (yes you need to know), everywhere I go, You’re always on my mind, you’re in my heart, in my soul…

Tails swept CC across the dance floor as the second refrain filled the Reception Hall:

You’re the meaning in my life, You’re the Inspiration… You bring feeling to my life, You’re the Inspiration… Wanna have you near me, I wanna have you hear me sayin’,  No one needs you more than I (No one needs you more than I) need… you….

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh… oh-oh-oh-oh…

Tails dipped CC and stole a quick peck, giving her a mischievous look: “Ready for our big surprise?”  A guitar interlude framed CC’s sly grin in return: “Always, my Love.  It’s what we’ve been waiting for… sweep me off my feet!”  The music swelled to a grand crescendo as the fox’s tails began to spin, and the confetti at CC’s feet scattered, blown by tiny ramjet fans mounted in her ankles and behind her knees.

Wanna have you near me, I wanna have you hear me sayin’,  No one needs you more than I need you (no one needs you more)...

The couple rose off the floor and spun around each other in the air as the final chorus reached every corner of the room with its powerful message of love and dedication:

You’re the meaning in my life (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh), You’re the Inspiration You bring feeling to my life (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh), You’re the Inspiration…

Sonic was the first to react to this spectacle, applauding vigorously with his hands over his head and pumping his fist in the air.  Shadow and Knuckles quickly joined him, with Amy, Aurora, and Rouge all cheering.  Omega fired confetti rockets towards the ceiling, which exploded in vibrant ribbons of colored paper and light.  Soon the entire reception hall was on their feet, joyously and boisterously celebrating the flight of Love and fancy on display over the dance floor.

Miles’ tails slowed their rotation as CC’s ramjet fans spun down and they gently touched the floor again, in full embrace of each other and swaying to the fading music:

They kissed warmly and deeply as the applause for them rose again.  CC gazed lovingly up at Tails and then at all their friends.  Everyone looks so elated, she thought.  I’m so happy for us… for them!  She scanned the head table, filled with their closest friends.  Look at them all!  I love them all so much!  She felt tears of joy streaming down her face as she hugged Tails cheek-to-cheek and acknowledged each beaming couple:  Sonic and Amy.  Knuckles and Rouge.  Shadow and Aurora.  Even William looked so happy with… Valerie… of course Valerie is William’s date!  How could I ever have forgotten?

It was at that moment CC recognized this was her dream, and her dream come true.  She turned to Tails and enjoyed yet another warm embrace and kiss.  “Such a happy couple!  Dr. and Mrs. Miles Prower, everyone!”  announced the DJ, to yet another swell of cheers from the gathered crowd.
