The original comic came out a couple years back. We’re talking back in 2015. I am referring to the Darth Vader comic published by Marvel in 2015. But this is only the lead in to what I am actually going to talk about. And to drag this out even further I am going to make an obscure and meaningless observation.
I used to collect the Star Wars comics that came out in the late 70s…

Clearing my mind...
Spent the afternoon with my (now 12yr old) baby cuz.
When I tell stories about when I was her age, I filter and lie about things, so it sounds more neutral/typical.
I never EVER want her to know how bad I had it.
Point 2:
I really don't want to make my aunt my "therapist" when I talk to her, but I am really wanting to ask her:
"How do you give your kids a sense of being -okay- no matter where they are? One of your kids has no hesitation to ask you to stay when she feels weird in a situation, while your other kid is confident enough to drive on the highway in his first years of learning....what have you said to them to help them be this way???"
But a part of me knows it's nothing she's said....it's most likely how she's raised them to believe: they can speak up when things don't seem right, they will be OK with learning complex new things, they will BE OK in general, they can visit friends and invite friends over, they are worth it, they don't need to worry or care for their parents, and they don't have to hold everything in and think they have to take care of their own problems.
It's crazy. I had a really great day with my cuz, but I just want to ball my eyes out when I get back to my own house.
I NEVER want my kids to feel like their whole world is on their shoulders. I will do everything I possibly can. I'll go to parenting classes and a therapist. I'll make sure they have adults (besides their parents) they can talk to about anything and trust.
Parents: Don't hold your facade of a "perfect" family over your child's well-being. THAT's not just a KID: that's a person's LIFE.
