Going off your theory of them signing up for this movie years ago....it probably got pushed back because Dylan and lewis kept getting bigger projects but eventually production/producers said "hey you signed up for this, you're contractually obligated to make it" and now they have to or risk legal trouble/black listing. (Kinda the same way Bill pullman was in "while you were sleeping" and did a table read, wanted to back out but his agent told him he'd already left a previous project so had to do it.) Except WYWS was a classic hit; this "erotica thriller" is gonna be a hot mess.
I don't think it's because they signed and were obligated, but rather because film productions can take time, look at Heat 2, Austin has been rumored for 3 years lol but I do believe they held back the cast not only because Lewis and Dylan were busy but also because I think Kaia and Lewis didn't want to star in a film so quickly in the public eye BUT...
I might be wrong, but why do I have a feeling Lewis might drop this erotic film? First, Kaia didn't post it on her feed (yes, maybe because she doesn't want to post Lewis on her feed), but what if it's because the cast is changing? In the People article, they didn't mention their film together, like, how, lol? I might be crazy, which I probably am, but well, keep that in mind

also…….when you’re reading like. real life hold-in-your-hand books do you ever purposely imagine the characters as people you stan? Even if they’re the evil characters? I just finished a book and lowkey imagined one of the characters as Dylan cause it fit lol

Sounds like a plan! I totally get not digging into my WIPs if you don't like waiting. I am a bit unpredictable. I feel really bad for anyone following my serials. The only promise I make is that I won't abandon them. I am a completionist, but WHEN completion occurs is variable.
When I'm reading I often do not imagine people's faces if they are not a known character or represented by a specific person (fics, books made into movies, etc.). I generally see features in close-up in my mind when they are described. Someone says a character has blue eyes, I see just the eyes in that moment, but when I am seeing their entire body in my mind's eye, the face is often sort of out of focus or hazy. That might be weird? I more vividly imagine overall movement, the sounds and lighting, the way someone touches someone else... but yeah, the details of their facial appearance are oddly vague.
The only exception is when I read over my novel manuscript that I've like... dream cast in my head. I see them as those actors. It's cool that you cast characters as favs! <3
