Prefix: Crested-

Crested isn't the most common prefix around. Most commonly, you'll find it in Dryclan though. Most people when they hear the prefix 'crested', assume it's meant to elude to birds like Roadrunners, Horned Owls, or any other bird with a crest.

In Crestednest's case, that isn't what it means. Crestednest was instead named after A Coat of Arms, also known as a family crest, which every Dryclan royal line has. Crestednest was named after a family crest to show to the clan that Duststar and Lucifer's legacy would live on, well beyond their death.

Suffix: Nest-

Nest is a fairly common suffix, but has lost its popularity over time within the desert clans. Nest pretty much always refers to a birds nest. It's a pretty straightforward name.

Crestednest was given the name to elude to the fact his clanmates feel safe and at home with him.

Together: Crestednest-

In most interpretations, the name is very straight forward. A nest of crested birds. That wasn't the real meaning behind the name though. Since Crestednest was named 'Crested' for the second reason listed, the meaning is different. In this case, Crestednest was given the suffix 'nest' by Sheriff Blizzardstar as a show of good faith towards the young cat.

Since the prefix 'Crested' is about a family crest, the legacy of his family looming over him, the suffix nest changes the meaning. The name symbolizes that despite the legacy constantly hanging over Crestednest's head, his clanmates feel comfortable around him and see him as a source of comfort.
