Mi sembra doveroso concludere il racconto di viaggio in Qatar con un post dedicato al deserto che abbiamo vissuto in diversi modi.

Chi ama l'arte, in particolare le installazioni situate in luoghi particolari, saprà che all'interno della riserva naturale del Brouq si trova l'installazione “East-West/West-East” dello scultore Richard Serra: quattro gigantesche lamine di metallo (ognuna è alta più di 14 metri) che trafiggono il suolo del deserto del Zekreet. Essere lì poco prima del tramonto ci ha permesso di godere di uno spettacolo unico nel silenzio più totale.

Il deserto è anche adrenalina ed avventura: mi sono divertita come una matta durante il dune bashing, volteggiando tra le dune con i nostri SUV 4x4 guidati dagli abili driver.

Oltre a farci divertire, ci hanno portato alla scoperta del Mare Interno, il Khor Al Adaid che è una riserva naturale riconosciuta Patrimonio Unesco: qui il mare avanza nel deserto creando una vasta insenatura circondata dalle dune.

Durante il percorso abbiamo fatto anche una breve sosta per un tuffo perché, seppur con qualche piccola alga, è stato impossibile resistere alle acque cristalline.

Trascorrere la notte in un campo tendato è un'esperienza da provare almeno una volta nella vita, meglio ancora se si affaccia sulle acque del Golfo Persico per godersi un tramonto ed un'alba spettacolari.
