I thought this might be fun to see all the hate Daenerys receives from.. let’s be honest; Jonsa/Sansa stans. Let’s start with my personal favourite:
1| “mad/Aerys2.0/crazy”
This of course stems from Daenerys and her dragons - her burning people. And such a sentence without context, yes, she will sound evil and mad. But to add context: she has burned,
a) the evil witch who used blood magic to cause Drogo’s brain to die; rendering him a vegetable - manipulated / tricked Dany into sacrificing her unborn child.
b) the slaver masters who were behind the creation of the Sons of Harpy (a group of people who were killing soldiers and civilians) - who wanted to bring back slavery.
c) soldiers in war - the Tarly’s — while yes I do think Dickon should have been left, it was war. Death was bound to happen in war, regardless of her dragon.
So that is two evil people and causalities of war. She isn’t burning people for the joy of it; she isn’t going around threatening to blow up an entire city; she’s not shouting “burn them all”. Does she have some anger issues? Sure. Wow, imagine that. A flawed character. Imagine a character not being a Mary Sue and having layers. Let’s also not forget the Tarly’s weren’t good people. The betrayed the Tyrell’s and abused Sam his entire life...
And while we’re here; Viserys. She didn’t kill him. Drogo killed him. After he had threatened to kill her and her unborn child, not to mention he frequently abused her.
So to compare Dany to her father — or say that she’s mad and crazy is dumb. Next!
This always made me laugh,
“Spoilt”: how is it that she’s spoilt? The only thing that was given to her was the 3 dragon eggs. Everything she has now she has built up on her own. She has bleed for it all; she started from nothing, gained it all, lost it all, and gained it again.
“Entitled”: from what I have gathered this is because of her titles she has. I mean... I guess? But lmao it’s not she’s just using them for the sake of using them, half of them - again - she earned them. The Unburnt, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons. Hell, even Stormborn. That’s all hers.
And when it comes to this “entitlement”, what she plans to do with it; she wants to make social change. She wants to change Westeros; to break the wheel. Personally, that sounds much better than another ruler sitting their flat ass on that throne and just ruling until an heir of theirs causes another war.
And really if you want to call Daenerys spoilt because of everything she has after she had earned it and fought for it, then you’re just wilfully ignorant.
And she’s just soooo spoilt and entitled she’s put aside the conquest she has planned for 6 years to help save the North and the world. Gosh, it just sickens me how entitled and spoilt that was. *eyerolls so hard I see into the next decade*
Not the character. Everyone expected Sansa to distrust Daenerys upon first meeting her. Sansa doesn’t have a good track record with queens from the south. The character isn’t the issue here; it’s the stans.
Daenerys and Sansa are really not that different. (Show Sansa of course). Both were forced into political marriages they didn’t want (sold). Both were raped. Both had to adjust and cope with what was happening - differently of course. Sansa’s was more horrific. Both women went from having nothing at all to reclaiming familial possession. Dany reclaimed Dragonstone and Sansa reclaimed Winterfell. Both had and lost a magical family animal - Sansa lost Lady, Dany lost Viserion. Both watch those have wronged them die by their hands. But you see they’re also two sides of the same coin: Dany is bad at politics but trusts her advisers.. Sansa is great at poltcis but mistrusts people. But both came out as strong willed women.
But instead of seeing this; instead of appreciating both these female characters who have been through so much hell and came out stronger, Sansa stans must constantly attack and hate Daenerys. Instead of looking at these two and going “hmm these two kick ass”, they will use literally anything to hate Dany with.
Jon and Dany stans get along, Arya and Dany stans get along, Hell even Cersei and and Dany stans get along; literally every stan gets along expect with Sansa stans. I haven’t seen a single Sansa stan in the comments treat another fan with respect. Maybe, just maybe, they’re the issue here.
Unnecessary petty girl hate. Next!
Look it just doesn’t matter who you want on the throne. Hating a character because another wants them on the throne won’t change that; ranting about it won’t change it. This story has already been set in stone by GRRM — as he has told D&D how it all plays out and ends.
Personally... || skip this paragraph if you don’t want to know how I want the throne situation to play out || I want both Jon and Daenerys ruling, as I believe they’re what’s good for the realm. But I want their power restricted. I want an elected government put in place; have the royals as top; basically what the UK has. It certainly would break the constant wheel of houses killing each other for power.
But as majority of this hate comes from Sansa stans, surprise surprise, they believe Sansa deserves the throne and will hate Dany because of that. Again, it’s all set in stone and doesn’t matter, but her on the throne; and actually attacking other characters to support this concept? Come on...
Yeah... arguing and hating other characters because of the throne is stupid; it won’t change a thing. This show doesn’t fan service like The CW shows do.
Also if you would take one minute, just one minute, to actually think to why she wants the throne — to make social changes. To break the wheel. In order to do that she needs to have control; to be the one sitting on that throne.
Yep. You know when the breaker of chains freed all those slaves and made it her mission to end slavery in Slaver’s Bay? Well that’s a reason to her. Taken from screencaps from a wonderful user who showed me this; she freed them because it benefited her; that it’s all mute because she married Khal Drogo - a slaver.
Let’s just get this out of the way: she was forced to marry Khal Drogo. She didn’t willingly go: “oh wowie! You’re like so hot and a slaver; BREEEEEED ME!!!!”. No, she was sold to him. She was literally his slave.
Moving on, this said by Daenerys herself: “You do not owe me your freedom. I cannot give it to you. Your freedom is not mine to give. It belongs to you and you alone. If you want it back, you must take it for yourselves. Each and every one of you.” OH YEAH! That totally sounds like someone who freed them for her own benefit.
She threw the whip away, she despises slavery. To try and use that against her just shows how desperate someone must be inroder to try and hate on Daenerys.
So yeah... they take something great she has done to try and use it against them; because again, they will literally try and use anything! Next!
I’m just... what did you think was going to happen after 7 long years of watching - 22 years of reading? “She burned the food from the Reach”. You mean during the battle? During this war - this conquest? She did something that would cause the people of the city to revolt against the current ruler? YOU MEAN SHE DID A WAR TACTIC IN A BATTLE? Wow; colour me shocked!!1!1!1!
Listen if Drogo and Rhaegal were acting like they were back in Season 4 I would understand. But they’re not flying around burning people alive and eating them. They’re wild majestic beasts that’s for sure, but in some sense they’re tamed.
This fits in here... her losing Viserion - Night King gaining Viserion. And I quote; “BECAUSE SHE DONATED THE OTHER ONE TO THE WHITE WALKERS”. Oh yeah.. that’s what happened. She didn’t lose something she cares more about than anything in this world; her child, in order to save Jon and the others. She just met with the Night King and handed it on over for the lols. These people don’t watch the show.. they use this as a way to blame Dany for the Wall coming down. Ha, the Wall was going to fall with or without Dany. If not by Viserion, then by the Horn of Winter; or another way. This was happening regardless of Dany
This was just a short one; dumb arguments; next!

Look I get that you want to hate Daenerys and will look for anything and everything to grasp onto, even if it has the slightest chance of holding any weight, but this one is just ridiculous.
— she took down the slavery in Slaver’s Bay
— she made a deal with Yara to stop Iron Born raids
— she wants to break the wheel that keeps on crushing those beneath it, all this goes to show one thing: she cares about people.
— Hell, she’s even now putting aside her wheel breaking mission to help Jon defeat the Night King
— help him save the North / the world, which is populated with, you guessed it, people.
I’m sure I’ve missed out some stuff, but to say she doesn’t care about the people is not only a cheap argument that has barely any weight to hold it up, it’s just all around a moronic thing to say.
This is really taking a lot to type this all out ahaha, next!
I honestly thought this argument was a one time thing, but apparently it’s something anti Dany/ Sansa/Jonsa stans frequently use.
So let’s go through Season One, because apparently they seem to have forgotten...
Daenerys did not kill her unborn son Rhaego - she did not sacrifice him either, well not willingly. The witch, she burned, tricked her. Dany thought she was sacrificing Drogo’s horse in order to save him. She did not know the price would be her child.
Daenerys killing Drogo.. she euthanised him; she gave him a mercy killing. Drogo was brain dead; the witch killed his brain and turned him onto a vegetable. What she did was something I doubt I could do. And anyway, if she had left it he would’ve starved and died. And you’d still use that against her — so in this situation she obviously can’t win...
To use either of these things as a means to hate Dany is wrong and just stupid. Next!
(I don’t know if this one is legitimate or if they were just trolling. Either way, this one has Hitler mentioning. Skip this part if you don’t want to hear that)
Yes... you read that correctly. They have stooped this low. I didn’t think this one was real until I was shown it. But so you won’t go without context here’s what they said:
“-I haven’t seen anyone compare her to Hitler just the fact that she shares a bit in common with the imagery of the nazi’s which is true. Seriously, personality cult, white pure blood(she’s a proud targ), red and black flag.”
Hahahaha I’m sorry, but all you can just do is laugh. Ugh, I didn’t really feel like talking about Hitler and Nazi’s today, or any for that matter, it’s just they’ve gone this low.
Daenerys had freed slaves; she ended slavery; and is wanting to end dictator like ruling from the Throne; she cares for all people, and does not care about race. And funny enough in the books she has a bisexual relationship; I’m pretty sure she’s bi (kinda annoying the show left that out), but yeah.. totally. Everything listed here totally resembles Nazi’s. From freeing slavery, to lgbt, just GOD! Nazism omG!11!!
So this is when you bring in race. What’s funny is that I have noticed that those who hate racism always bring up race when it’s irrelevant. I too hate racism, but I don’t force it into every aspect of life - including fictional medieval fantasy shows. She’s a proud Targaryen? Well... good for her. Family pride is good. And you can be proud of what you are, and also acknowledge the past and change that. “red and black flag” That is just pathetic levels of reaching and everyone knows it.Â
Quite possibly the most disgusting anti Dany argument there is. And anyone who stands by it and actually spreads this; rethinking your Goddamn life.
That’s all I can think of at this point, but feel free to add to it. Hopefully there’s no spelling mistakes; I am very tired when writing this ahaha.
This fandom tends to treat these characters like they’re black and white, and all this hate is that; seeing Daenerys as black and white. I, for one, hate certain characters, but I don’t see them as just their issues / perceived issues. I see them as grey. Because that’s what is great about GOT characters. They’re all grey. Not evil or good.
I’m not saying you cannot dislike a character. That’s not at all what I am saying. What I am saying here is that these reasons, the reasons Jonsa/Sansa stans throw around like they hold the weight of a thousand houses, are ridiculous. And when looked at are weak.
