A Ranger Leader that’s come to Akkadios to see the PokĂ©mon World Tournament, but also to keep the wild PokĂ©mon in the area under control especially with all the new variants and unfamiliar forms on display in the region. While taken off guard, he still treats all of the Akkadios forms with the care and respect they deserve.Â
Now, one might expect a PokĂ©mon Ranger, and especially a Ranger Leader to be a bit more serious with their duties, but the Ranger known as “D-K” is surprisingly very lax and even whimsical when it comes to his duties as he’s known to regularly goof off and mess around. And this whimsical nature extends to each and every one of his Partner PokĂ©mon, all of whom have a nickname of some sort that he prefers to call them by.Â
While he has seen and encountered many PokĂ©mon in his past adventures, his partner Aggron and ace “Komachi” has remained stalwartly by his side since the day they encountered each other in Granite Cave. Komachi is a defensive monster, making sure that no matter what goofy shenanigans DK might be performing as a Ranger, no matter what happens their partner never gets hurt in the line of fire. And their bond runs so intrinsically deep, when they found an Aggronite while excavating fossils in Cyllage City, it furthered their bond to allow Komachi to Mega Evolve, making it even stronger in its defences.Â
Another Pokémon from Hoenn, is his strangely colored Lanturn “Est”, who also holds a permanent place in DK’s heart if one is to be believed. The two regularly are seen messing around in the water, and Est remains as one of his most trusted Pokémon to explore the oceans and deep seas, having come from an area where it is indeed mostly deep ocean.
DK has also travelled around numerous other regions finding his partner PokĂ©mon in many strange places. His Empoleon “Megumu” and Staraptor “Tokiko” were some of the first pokemon he discovered while exploring the Sinnoh region and remained by his side since, even after a number of failed attempts at challenging the Sinnoh Pokemon League. His Magnezone “Mayumi” was found in an abandoned Powerplant in the Kanto region, and with DK’s luck he managed to scare off a rather angry Zapdos that was causing a ruckus in the area. Finally his Aurorus “Amiya” was found at first as a Sail Fossil, and after said successful fossil expedition venture to the Glittering Cave, he promptly brought it back to the fossil lab in Ambrette Town and brought it back to life, where it’s remained a strong partner PokĂ©mon since.Â
In stating this, observations from other Rangers note that DK is pretty much obsessed with Prehistory and Prehistoric Life. He will often spend hours of his time observing Fossil PokĂ©mon, or noting behaviours between once extinct species. In fact, he has a number of Fossil PokĂ©mon that he has brought with him to the Akkadios World Tournament, like his Archeops “Miko” and his Bastiodon “Yuugi”. His main assistant PokĂ©mon, a Glaceon named “Frosty” and a Dugtrio named “Giggles” are there to help keep the rather ancient PokĂ©mon in check while things happen, but also help with the excavation of Fossils as both Frosty and Giggles excel with finding them in their respective environments. The prospect and idea of there being not only new fossils in the Akkadios region but new prehistoric life to explore remains as one of the biggest contributing factors of DK making his way there.Â
Since arriving, DK has already made an impact by kick-starting fossil expeditions and excavation attempts around the Akkadios region, but he still makes it a point to check in and dote on his daughter, a recent graduate of the Goldenbeak Academy. She’s there to watch the tournament, and what kinda dad would he be if he didn’t spoil her just a little… after he’s gotten that fossilized rib in the cavern wall of course.
