Ethan Wate, Mortal in Over His Head:

Background:
A young man who lives in Gatlin, “South Carolina’s least famous middle of nowhere” (his words), Ethan has had recurring dreams about a girl he’s never met, and yet has. He despairs over his small-town existence, where the local library has more banned books than books to read, dreams of heading off to college (any one as far from Gatlin as possible) and falls in love with Lena Duchannes, who looks like the girl he’s dreamt of.
As it turns out, Lena is a “Caster” (people capable of performing spells). He’s entered a world that he doesn’t quite understand, but nonetheless seeks to help Lena.
How he is like me:
We both are part of worlds we don’t quite understand (in his case, the Caster world, and in my case, basically, most social things). But we both seek to adapt. I usually adapt with the aid of pills and lessons learned.
