In the Great Tradition of TV Getting These Things Wrong..
It was somewhat exciting to see ST:Discovery imbue young Spock with my particular disability - dyslexia with numbers, or dyscalculia, as I think theyâre calling it now. Representation is important. However - small detail - thatâs not AT ALL how this dysfunction works.
- You donât literally see or remember number sequences backwards. (Dear Lord - if it were only that stable and predictable...!) Itâs more like numbers tend to âgo awayâ or get jumbled inside your head.
- Dsycalculia is brain dysfunction perhaps brought on by head trauma, so no, not even in the 23rd century could you take care of it in a couple sessions at a âLearning Center.â You canât meditate your way out of this stuff... or just âtry harderâ and make it go away.

Okay technically this isnât really directed to any single mental disorder exactly but I feel this is related...Â
So when you want to use fancy words and act all smart on the internet... and know the words BUT CANâT FOR THE LIFE OF YOU SPELL IT OUT SO YOU JUST TRY TO PICK A DIFFERENT WORD. CAUSE YOU TRY TO SPELL IT MANY WAYS IT STILL COMES OUT AS INCORRECT AND AUTO CORRECT ISNâT HELPING.Â

Sometimes I read yalls posts and Im like ????. I cant tell if this is my dsylexia making things be incomprehensible but sometimes I'll just read long text posts and It will be just word salad. Most of the time I just skim
The joys of a dyslexic writer - red squiggly lines everywhere. Thank the universe for spell checkers or my writing would be unreadable!
I should note that everything before the dash on the third line was already written and edited before this, or there would be more red lines!
