what impresses me most about the creation of âSamalamadingdongâ is the operational security. It wasnât just coordinated embezzlement (though it objectively was that). There were so many different lies told to so many different people, coworkers and friends and family. There were secret slack channels and calendars dual-used alongside Sam-occupied ones. There were blurred Zoom meetings with people smashing plates just offscreen/out of hearing, a long-term secret warehouse rental, a Variety reporterâwho presumably had to carefully tell their bossâSamâs wife, and dozens of cast, crew, and other creatives involvedâand yet nobody outside the carefully chosen people knew. Least of all Sam.
Iâm accustomed to the âpractically speaking, that could never actually be kept secretâ anti-conspiracy argument, and I stand by it. There is no way NASA/the US govt in 1969 couldâve faked the moon landing and we wouldnât know. But the cast and crew of Game Changer on Dropout.tv? Maybe! They! Could!!
