Discoveries. I grew up being told I was lakwatsera, someone who can't stay put, who has to always leave the house, and later on I thought I was someone who needed to travel with all the requisite cliches of discovery and finding self that I certainly thought I was all for. But age has made me want to write, and make, more and more, which are only possible if I stay put for stretches of time, and now not quite a choice I make, but my default: is it worth stepping out of the house for? One realizes the best discoveries can happen in the process of writing itself, or in that quick random trip to a Japanese store you're seeing for the first time, (a muji-wannabe! Haha!) that offers this wonderful bag of dried fruit -- a discovery that tides you over a week of proposals and deadlines and dreaming.
