Aware in advance in a general way of “a Christmas episode” of The Twilight Zone, I found some amusement in getting to “The Night of the Meek” during July...

While a working TRS-80 Model 100 is the one “1980s computer” in my possession I can switch on without clearing what limited table space I have to cable together hardware, at times I’m just as likely to resort to its “Virtual T” emulator as to pull the computer out of its old slip case (which is itself stamped “made in Japan”)...

The camera Rod Serling showed off in the preview for “A Most Unusual Camera” at least looked distinctive to me for being so plain, although I knew “box cameras” had existed once upon a time...

Back to one beginning: Mighty Atom

It didn’t take more than a few moments before I’d decided “The Trouble with Templeton” had been filmed, which at least meant every episode following “The Lateness of the Hour” wasn’t going to have the look of videotape...

Checking in on Twilight Zone articles every so often on Wikipedia, I noticed a comment that not every one of Rod Serling’s next-episode previews is extant, or at least they’re not all included on home video. When I ran into that for the first time myself after finishing “Nick of Time,” I decided it might be interesting to go into another episode altogether “cold,” as I’d done starting the second season. This managed to extend to only having the episode title register on me as I loaded the Blu-Ray. When I started “The Lateness of the Hour,” though, for the second time in a row I was hit with a certain distraction from more important parts of the episode...

Patlabor 2: The Movie, Bubblegum Crisis, Macross Zero, and Gurren Lagann might be supposed to set a certain pattern for “specific titles I’m getting back to at last to mark thirty years since I joined the anime club at university.” Saying that could amount to an admission I’ve just broken the pattern. In a change from “robots” of whatever size and “realness” and stakes escalating from the fate of the country to the fate of the cosmos, I moved on to high school girls who sing and dance, as much because of their thoughts this will somehow help them “shine” as to try and increase enrolment at their school...
