in the OG movie, jen and kira dreamfast on accident. we also see this in the first book in the prequel series when naia accidentally dreamfasts with tavra. that doesn’t necessarily mean they ‘did it’, it’s just something young gelfling are taught to control. jen and kira were not taught to control it because they were thought to be the last of their kind. so it’d be useless to teach them to control something they were never going to do anyways. 

in the show when rian gets flustered after mira asks if he wants to dreamfast, this context makes it more intimate, because they are a couple and they are sharing memories and thoughts they would share with no one else. 

in the comics when mayrin says to kam’lu that flattery wouldn’t get him a fast pass to dreamfast, i’m seeing this as a specific type of dreamfasting like. when two gelfling first share their deepest, most private thoughts. we get this in the books too when periss asked amri if he dreamfasted with naia yet, followed by “do you want to?’ and amri said “not THAT way.” 

I the beginning of The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance, Rian treats dreamfasting like its *cough cough* an intamate gesture. Then he goes and dreamfasts with every gelfling who was willing... and the Skeksis told everyone that he was spreading a sickness though dreamfsting. So they literally told all of the gelfling that Rian was spreading a dreamfasting STD.
