Why can’t you Lucid Dream?
So, if you’ve heard of Lucid dreaming you must think it’s pretty cool. I mean, control over your dreams? Doesn’t that sound awesome, don’t you want to do it all the time? Well, if you’re reading this maybe you can’t lucid dream. Let’s start off with basics;
What is lucid dreaming?
To put it simply, lucid dreaming is when you are aware you are dreaming, and can therefore control them.
So, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of why you can’t;
Are you keeping a dream journal?
Whatever post about lucis dreaming you come across, everyone says the same thing. Keep a dream journal. Honestly, it does help.
Are you doing reality checks?
Keep. Checking. Whenever you can. Often. Let it become a habit. Take your time with it. As everyone says, habits carry over.
Are you getting enough sleep?
If you never enter REM sleep (which occurs like an hour or so after you fall asleep. If you are sleeping for less than that you won’t dream.
How long had it been?
Lucid dreams don’t happen every day, and they don’t usually happen just because you went ‘you know what? Today i want to lucid dream’. You have to be patient.
Are you taking any medication?
This is something I don’t think anyone has covered. Medication. I’m not talking about the stuff you use to help you lucid dream, but like actual medication. I take medication to slow my brainwaves down, and I find that it’s extremely rare to have a lucid dream on the medication. DO NOT STOP TAKING MEDICATION BECAUSE OF THIS. It might suck if medication stops your chances of lucid dreaming, but your health is more important. Maybe check some of the side-effects, and see if there’s anything related to sleeping problems or something similar.
In the end, don’t worry if you haven’t had one yet. Lucid dreams are just harmless fun, but they do take time!
Happy witching!
