#Flashbackfriday was given to me by the sweet little 3yr-old in the front, who's all grown up. She posted this pic of herself. My cousin Martin and his mom put a troupe of aspiring poets, actors, and musicians from various schools, and we toured Kanawha County performing the works of Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Langston Hughes, August Wilson and Lorraine Hansbury around the valley!!! In West Virginia!!! I'm so grateful to God for the experience. We toured the predominantly white schools exposing them to great black artists. Such courage and great vision Martin and Ms. Easley had for us. I'm in the Upper right hand corner. I was 17. If it wasn't for this experience I would have never been able to perform, create costumes and serve at New Birth. Salute to our community warriors!! #community #teaching #acting #DiddleyDooTheatre #LangstonHughes #AugustWilson #blackliterature #blackhistory #dramatroupe #celebrateouractivists #childrenareourfuture (at Charleston, West Virginia)
