I hate watching dramas, but only because they actually make me feel. I am not emotionally stable. I melt down easily. That's why I watch the same five shows over and over most of the time. Bob's Burgers is a show I could watch forever. There's a cycle of 40-50 episodes I could live on, rewatching them over and over for (probably) life. Why? Because those episodes are funny, they're consistent and they know how to make me feel stable.
Comedies are usually safe watching material for me. They're silly and they really don't aim for much beyond silly, so they make me feel comforted. Drama forces me to feel things, and those things drain me of energy. It's horrible. I watched a drama with my dad recently. We binged all of it in one go. It's tremendous, but it's dealt some damage to my psyche. I now feel horribly drained of energy. I can't handle it all.
So don't let me do this again. I'll tell you what I told my dad: don't let me watch another big drama for the rest of the year. Don't let me. And if I have a meltdown in the next few days, you can feel free to blame it on all this. I probably will.
