Draigh hadnât even been a bad person! He was just following orders. But, of course, that didnât matter. He did horrible things, and he knew he would be arrested. What he didnât expect, however, was to be tortured day in and day out and to have the phrase burned into his mind; you are a monster.
After long enough, he believed it. He stopped begging not to be hurt, stopped trying to explain his actions. Heâd already done anything he couldâve thought of, including reveal his masterâ bossâs hideout and plans. They didnât care. They just wanted to see him hurt. See him sobbing. See him broken. And broke him they did.
Then one day he came. The hero. The one who put him there. He strode into the room with such confidence, looking ready to interrogate the prisoner⌠until he saw the state he was in. He froze just inside the doorway as the door shut and locked behind him.
âDraighâŚâ
Huh, he hadnât heard his name spoken in months. He didnât look over.
âDraigh, what did they do to you?â
A hand touched his arm, and he flinched, curling up tightly to protect himself from the hits that had to be coming. Instead, he felt the hand move to his back, rubbing gently. His shirt had started to pull up, and he whimpered, pulling away. As soon as he realized, he tensed and froze.
âS-sorry⌠you-you can do wh-whatever you, you want⌠I w⌠I wonât fightâŚâ His voice cracked, trembled.
âDraigh, I wasnâtâŚâ The hero stopped, realizing with growing horror what he mustâve thought. âOh God, Draigh, I didnât know they wouldâ fuck, Iâm so sorry. I thought they were just going to interrogate you⌠get you to say where your boss wasââ
ââŚd-did tell them⌠they didnât care⌠deserved to be hurtâŚâ
The hero reached a hand out, but stopped as soon as Draigh cowered away. Standing, he went to the door and hit it so hard that it broke off of the hinges. A few employees rushed over, and Draigh whimpered. He tried to brace himself for what he knew was coming, and waited for them to walk in. But instead, just the hero came back.
âIâm going to get you out of here, okay?â
Draighâs eyes widened, and he shrank back quickly. He shook his head. No, no, he canât leave. He wants to stay here, he knows what to expect, he doesnât want more painâŚ!
He was suddenly pulled up, into the heroâs arms, and he was too weak to struggle. His eyes closed tightly, and he took deep breaths, terrified to think of what was going to happen to him next.
