It's the first thing you say when you see him on the 25th. He doesn't want to observe his birthday, but you put the present down with his coffee.
"It's just something I thought you'd like," you explain.
He picks up the coffee and ignores the present for a moment. By the way his mouth curves up, he seems to be pleased. After he takes a sip, he puts the cup down. "I told you not to get me anything."
"And I didn't..." He shoots you a sharp glare. You protest more, "No really! Open it and see! It's not from a store."
His eyes stay narrow. He's suspicious as he pulls at the bow and tears open the paper. Then a laugh almost bursts free as he pulls out the frame. He turns it to face you, even though you're very familiar with the picture of him astride a Blue Eyes White Dragon. "Is this a joke?"
You hold a hand to your chest for dramatic effect. "A joke?"
"Where, exactly, do you propose I put this... charming, portrait?" He tries to sound disdainful, but a grin keeps sneaking onto his face. His eyes scan the picture.
"On your desk," you suggest. "With the pictures of Mokuba and me. Your prized possession and favorite people together."
He arches his eyebrow at the suggestion. "How did you know that you're my prized possession?"
