Does anyone else make themselves a costume, then say "nah"? I don't really love my second Lady Death on me very much, and I was thinking about how many costumes I make for myself that I wear once or twice and then either sell or trash. I'm sure to some people it must seem nuts to spend so much time and effort creating an intricate costume and then to yeet it, but it doesn't bother me. I've gotten to a place where it feels more important to LIKE what I am wearing and to feel really good in it, than to force myself to wear it bc I worked hard on it, but be unhappy with myself and the photos.
This one is a perfect example: DragonLady. I based this on art by Juyong Ha, I spent so much time airbrushing the bodysuit, the tail moved, the wings were latex, I handmade every spike, and even the horns and feet. And in the end, I wore it for two shoots (one in summer and one in winter), then I trashed it, keeping the horns for a possible later project.
I have tons of cosplays that I love wearing, and that make me feel good. I think that's important, if I forced myself to wear things I don't like myself in, I'd end up dropping cosplay entirely. I just want to have fun! Pics by scoundrel run!
