I just realized that the five dragon slayers were by all means child soldiers. Sure the plan ended up working, But that really doesn't look well on Anna that she was just okay making five children a target for Acnologia.

imo Dragon Slayers were never capable of defeating dragons. The only chance they had was when they eventually turned into dragons themselves like Acnologia. Suppressing the dragon seed turned Dragon Slayers into just regular mages with advanced techniques (like eating their element + using magic on their entire body)
