these are all coming out as triple drabbles which im not upset about but it is a little funny lol
Usually he was the one trying to make sure you were set up with everything you’d need when he went out of town. Club runs never really bothered him before he had you waiting at home. He never thought that he would be one of those guys, and yet.
This time you were the one going out of town. A weekend conference for work that you were genuinely excited about. He didn’t say anything, didn’t mention that he was going to miss you for the two days you’d be gone—it felt silly when he thought about putting the words out there.
You were the last one out of the house, Coco already sitting in the driver’s seat ready to bring you to the airport. He promised to be there to pick you up when you got home too.
After enough goodbye kisses to nearly make you miss your boarding call, Coco headed back home. The house was quiet and empty, not at all like it was with you there. Stepping into the bedroom, everything was the same except one thing: a teddy bear resting on what was normally your pillow.
He chuckled at first, knowing that you’d left it there for him. Keeping it there felt silly in the same way that telling you he was going to miss you for a two-day trip had felt silly. Sitting on the edge of your side of the bed, he picked it up. He turned it over in his hands like he was expecting something else to happen with it.
He almost set it off to the side, tucked it in the closet. Then he reconsidered, leaving it on the pillow where you’d put it for him. He smiled and laughed, realizing this was how you were setting him up too.
