#drabble asks

Thanks! This inspired me to finally write a little something for Marina de Riva and Elek!

"Are you following me, little birdie? I thought Crows were stealthier than that." Elek turned, looking up and pinning Marina with a steady gaze and amused grin.

Matching his grin, she jumped down from her perch above the market stalls, landing in front of him. "Don't worry, Handsome. If you were my target, you would never see me coming."

"Then, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

Marina fell into step beside him as he resumed his leisurely pace. "Neve says you're the man to see if I want information on Dock Town."

"Hm, well that depends."

"On?"

"What kind of information you're looking for. And how much you're willing to pay."

She batted her eyelashes at him, slipping a paper with the details of her request into his pocket. "And for a friend of Neve's?"

That earned a chuckle from Elek. "Maybe you can owe me a favor."

"What's the favor?" Marina raised a brow curiously as they rounded a corner into a quiet alleyway.

"To be determined," he drew out the phrase with a sly smile as he braced his hand against the wall next to her head.

"Well that's just not fair," Marina put on her best fake pout. He was right where she wanted him.

"It's not about being fair, little birdie." His smirk and the wink he paired with it formed a lethal combo. "We've both got to make a living."

She thought he might make a good Crow.

"Well in that case, I think I'll need a little insurance that you can get what I need." Marina leaned in, pressing a flirty kiss to his cheek before backing off with a wide smile. "I have a good feeling you're going to want to see me again."

"Oh, do you now?" He was moving to lean into her space again. She clearly had his attention.

"Mmhm." She moved faster than he could blink, vanishing and reappearing with a flutter of feathers several feet away. She threw him a saucy wink before holding up his coin-purse. "Insurance!" she called, laughing as she took off down the street, leaving a stunned, confused Elek in her wake.

Deliberately not specifying who besides HL. Writer’s choice.

Homelander can sense it before he can hear it: a faint chortling sound. His heart sinks when he realizes Maeve is struggling to suppress that smirk of hers she always gets on her face when he’s done something wrong — the one he’s come to hate with a passion because it's a near constant reminder of all the things she knows that he doesn’t.

“God, you’re a nerd!” She bursts out laughing.

“I’m not!” He protests instinctively. He isn’t even 100% sure what she means, but he knows being a nerd is not a good thing.

“Excuse me,” Maeve snortles, “but you just gave me a ten minute lecture about The Apotheosis of Washington. You are a nerd. Don’t deny it.”

Homelander feels his face grow hot and quickly turns away from her before Maeve notices anything. How stupid of him to think anything he tells her might actually impress Maeve. “Well, I’m sorry you’re not interested,” he says. It’s meant to sound blasé, but the words come out small and insecure.

“Hey. Hey.” Her hand feels soft on his shoulder, gentle. (Weak, he tries to tell himself.) “You know I like that about you, right?”

He tries not to listen to her heartbeat — he doesn’t need another slap in the face if she’s lying. But her heart is calm and steady, and the smirk has dropped from her face.

“Really?”

Maeve nods. “Yes, really. You’re different, but I kind of like that about you. It’s refreshing.” She wraps one arm around his back. “What do you say we fly to the Capitol right now, and you give me the full tour of the real thing?”

Homelander hesitates. There’s nothing he would love more, but he can’t be sure this is real. “We have a meeting with Madelyn in an hour,” he reminds her.

Running with the cart in the supermarket

Genesis’s eyes cracked open in tandem with his bedroom door, the mako-blue slits heavy with fever, just barely able to make out the SOLDIER-cladded contour—holding what looked to be a bowl of soup—as the nebulous shape quietly slipped into his quarters.

He let his eyes fall back shut, relieved.

“…Thank you, ‘Geal. I know it was late notice. Is that your special homemade—?”

“Yep! Sure is!”

Genesis’s eyes snapped back open.

“Wh… what…?! Zackary?”

ok Poppy gets/finds the pig miraculous and uses in branch to make him happy but it doesn't work

like every time she uses the miraculous on him and gets the present it just make branch angrier/sad like branch wants his brothers so the gift is a collection of brozone he wants to parties so poppy gives him invitation/tries to force him to go to parties

and poppy is confuse because it works on everyone else but not on branch for some reason (also Poppy doesn't hear the pig kwami we it tries to tell her what could it be the cause)

#36. ...to give up control. (Alaric/Gisla)

He had descended from the Knight with a mouthful of blood and dripping oil, gasping for breath and stagginer. Blood vessels had burst in his eye, making them red as his optic, and even below the armor, Gisla could smell the cooked flesh of his skin.

It was a bad neural blow out; a fight between pilot and machine that the pilot always lost, in the end, even if they took control in the moment.

The spectators were screaming, but Gisla did not care. She had come down from the stands, pushing past the guards who thought they would keep her from her husband, and ran across the streaked sands to where Alaric was stumbling. She'd ripped the helmet from his hand, though it had burnt her hands, and thrown it aside, and had lowered him to the sands.

The children were away. Gisla had sent Heinrix with his sisters out as the Knight had faltered; she did not want to explain this to them yet.

Cradled in her arms, Alaric gazed up at her, his left eye twitching rapidly. His hand, jerky, reached up, fingers grazing her cheek.

"H-here," he rasped, barely audible over the crowd. "H-here, m-la-dy." Weakly, he drew her head forward, his lips pressing against hers.

Gisla almost screamed herself when he collapsed, his eye closed, the optic powering down. But his breathing evened, as the last remnants of the Knight faded away.

They had lain the old cat to rest amidst the daisies that it used to chew.

It had lived a long life, this cat, and had sired many kittens. After twenty-two years, it became not a matter of if this faithful Sanctuary keeper would pass, but when. And on a sunny day in spring, it had curled up to sleep on the cogitator next to Alaric as he had been working on his Knight and never awoken.

Gisla had been inventorying the larder when Alaric arrived. The bellowing panic by which he had called her name quickened her footsteps to find him. He had come to her inconsolable. His face red, his mustache wet with tears, and clutched to his broad chest with oil-stained hands, the limp body.

Like the shepherd leads the sheep, she had brought him to a plush settee and sat him down. An arm draped over his shoulders and her lips upon his brow in a tender kiss, she had let him cry.

"And this?" Heinrix asked, his fingertips trailing up her calf to her knee, where a pink, slightly raised patch of skin resided. "What is this from?"

"An ill-conceived lesson," Aurelia replied, her chest rising and falling rapidly at how close Heinrix was to the skin of her leg.

"Elaborate," was the command, gray eye darting to her face.

"My... manners were poor." She did not elaborate on what those manners were, for it had been many years ago and she had been so young that the details largely escaped her, "and so my grandmother bade me practice my kneeling. On hot cobblestones."

Her husband's lips drew into a line so thin they almost disappeared from his face entirely. "And you have accused *us* of barbarism?"

"I am sure many a child on Guisorn III has been punished in far worse ways than anything I ever experienced," Aurelia replied, chin lifted and unwilling to take the slight against her people.

"I would debate you on the finer points of that, but," Heinrix's gaze fell once more to the patch of skin, "I don't wish to cause strife."

Pairing: Joshua x reader Prompt #: 22 “i want to help you. so please, let me.” Currently listening to: this

You were never one to ask for help. It made you feel weak. It was one of those things Joshua realized shortly after you both started to date. For instance, if there was something on a shelf you couldn't reach, but he could, you would climb on the kitchen counter and grab it.

Joshua would offer help when he noticed you struggled but you always said, "no no no it's okay." It wouldn't frustrate him always but when he saw you sicker than a dog trying to stand up to make you Ramen or whatever that's when he'd get frustrated.

"Babe," he'd carefully say before taking the Ramen packet from you.

"What?"

"I'll cook you Ramen, go rest, you are sick."

"No, no, no it's okay. I'm capable of making Ramen," you said while trying to grab the Ramen pack from him but he lifted it above his head where you couldn't reach.

"(Y/N)," he said sternly.

"Shua," you said in a similar tone.

He rolled his eyes before gently putting himself between you and the stove, "I know you are capable of cooking Ramen but I want to help you, so please. let me."

For some reason, hearing him saying that he wanted to help made something in you brain switch. You realized he wasn't being malicious so you nodded with a sigh.

"Ok, thank you for helping me, babe."

He smiled and kissed your forehead before turning around to start cooking your ramen, "go rest on couch, I'll be out in a moment."

You gave him a quick back hug before heading to the living room. You were so thankful for him and thought maybe you would let him help you more often in the future.
