I obviously have broader feelings on this season but I have a small thing Ii want to talk about. I am so glad Brooklynn got to talk to Dr. Wu.

My most major pet peeve from CC S5 was that Brooklynn didn't get to confront Hawkes. Like why did Kenji get to confront him and Brooklynn didn't????? Gah.

But it feels like we finally got an acknowledgement of how the end of season 3 changed her. She learned that she can make the kinds of decisions that define her in chaos theory and it will work. She can hold her own in a den of villains. The greater good, getting the information, matters more than her own well being.

And as well as confronting the man who she sees as partially responsible for her limb difference. He is also the man who changed her. There's a psychological injury that runs deeper, that put her in the position in the first place, that has been fueling her actions ever since.

But Brooklynn wasn't the only one changed by their interaction. I maintain that she set the stage for his character development. She opened his eyes and was unafraid to go toe to toe with his ego. As seen by him stopping Hawkes from killing the kids and then his change of heart as the movies go on. He's different. He's not the villain she's been dreaming of hurting.

One day has come. He understands.

I don't think it was a coincidence that her approach to the reunion changed after she spoke to Wu. He was a villain in her eyes, and her friends (or at least Darius) are treating her like she's a villain too. But he changed. He wants her help. He doesn't know what she's done. He still sees the 13 year old who would do anything to put the world to rights. If he has changed, maybe she's not stuck in the box she's created for herself out of desperation.
