He looked at you with a raised brow, “Do I know you?”

“Probably.” You shrugged, “I go to Ridgeway High. I’m a cheerleader.”

Knox nodded thoughtfully, “Right… yeah I remember now.”

Your eyes follow his gaze, “Looking for Chris again?”

“How did you..?”

“She told me.” You blankly stated. “We’re in the same classes; everyone knows.”

The intoxicated boy blinked at you, “What..?”

“C’mon Knox,” you groan with annoyance, “She has a boyfriend. Move on!” You encourage. Knox hits you with his infamous side-eye, “Easy for you to say, (y/n). You don’t know what it’s like.”

You scoffed and rolled your eyes. You mumble with attitude, “Yeah, sure I don’t…”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Nothing!” You defended yourself. The pair of you sat in a comfortable silence for a little while. You leaned against Knox without even realising. The Welton student stiffened before relaxing a little, putting a comforting arm around you.

He sighs peacefully, “How do you get over someone like Chris?”

Your heart sinks at the attention he gives her, even when she isn’t even present. You mumble once again, “I don’t know, Knox. I’ll tell you when I figure it out.”

Knox suddenly stands up. Alarmed at your crush leaving, you ask, “Where are you going?”

The boy smirks, extending his hand, “I was going to dance. Want to come?”

Your eyes light up momentarily, taking his larger hand in yours. The two of you situate yourselves naturally between the other dancing couples; a sweet, slow song playing.

“So, am I Chris’ rebound?” You chuckle, half joking. Knox furrows his brows, “What are you talking about, (y/n)? You know I don’t do that shit-”

“Let me put it in words you’ll understand.” You chuckle. He continues to sway with you to the music, although slightly confused on where you were verbally heading.

You lean up to his ear, murmuring intimately, “Carpe Diem.” Knox’s eyes widen as you slowly lean in.

“(Y/n),” he starts, yet doesn’t finish.

You look at him, “What…?”

“I don’t know,” Knox discards his thoughts, leaning in to kiss you tenderly before pulling away to look at you. The pair of you slowly sway to the music. Your arms snake around his neck as his rest on your hips. The ‘future lawyer’ brought you into another sweet kiss; a longer one this time.

The whole world melted around you in pure bliss, finally getting what you wanted. Knox runs his hands through your hair gently as he deepens the kiss.

You pull away, breathing heavily. Knox rests his forehead against yours as the two of you continue to carefully dance.

“Fuck, you’re beautiful.” He whispers.

He made you feel like it was only the two of you on planet Earth, despite barely knowing each other’s names.
