The @thesunriseproject volunteer family rocked it again! Yesterday we spent the day together making tissue paper flowers, assembling seed packets to handout, painting a banner, making posters and eating pizza! We had the best afternoon preparing for today’s St Patrick’s Day Parade. We’re bundling up and headed downtown for the 1p parade. Join us in community on Mass Street. The thing I love about serving with Sunrise is that not only do we serve and enrich our wider community, but we create a volunteer community. We have so much fun together and engage in super fun activities. This year, in addition to the regular cooking family, I’m commuting to the garden family at Sunrise. Socks! Thank you to the big-hearted @yelleybean who asked me yesterday where to take socks to donate them. I invited her to bring them by because I have a load of blankets in my car to take to DARE, Drop-In and Rest , Center in #downtownlawrence. She brought over this bunch of thick socks that are in really great condition. They are going to serve some people very well. If you have socks or blankets, contact me and I’ll pick them up to take them to DARE. If you have coats, hats, gloves or want to donate baked goods, I will pick up and deliver to @thesunriseproject on Tuesday. Please do not take other clothes, books or household goods to Sunrise. In the next month we are collecting packets of condiments, salt and pepper for Flavor Kits. Next month we’re creating Hygiene Kits. The list of items we’re collecting is on the homepage of the website. Link in bio. Remember all those stray socks you are holding on to because you have unwavering faith that you WILL find the mates? I’ll pick up the strays and donate them. Anyone can wear mismatched socks, so don’t throw them away, but we’re collecting them specifically for amputees. Through the spring we’re creating a fund to buy ingredients for people who want to donate their baking talents but don’t have the resources.
