In the myriad complexities and unknowns of life, there often dwelled things that just couldn't quite be explained, no matter what frame of reference you looked at it from. Granted, there were very few things that accomplished minds (human or otherwise) couldn't seem to understand no matter what... but that didn't make the few true unknowns any less real.
And as Rin walked through an ordinary looking glass door with an elegant invitation in hand... she encountered one of these unknowns.
What had looked like a shabby, rundown, and abandoned mall entrance led to one of the most opulent scenes she could have imagined. The air was rich with the fragrance of perfume, decadent wine, and the subtle undertone of an indulgent feast trying to whet her appetite. Crystal chandeliers lit the seemingly endless space in a warm, comforting light, subconsciously relaxing the mind. A fountain made of alabaster, gold, silver, platinum, marble, and countless other precious metals and minerals stood tall and proud in the lobby. It was a proclamation of indulgence and decadence, almost comically so, as the sweetest wine flowed from a decanter held by one of many statues of supple, deliciously plump figures.
What had she done to earn an invite to such an impossibly luxurious and wondrous place? And where had this been hiding the whole time? There was no way that this place could have fit in a shabby mall and nobody would have noti-
"Oh my, oh my~! Who do we have here, a lovely guest here for the first time~? How convenient I managed to catch you so soon~"
Rin had likely seen her share of enormous women, truly gargantuan ladies of epic proportions. But the ravenette with a bob waddling over felt more like an avalanche of lard than a person. It was a feat of engineering in and of itself to create a dress that fit over a woman that big, and even more inconceivable that it looked to be of high fashion. The colossal lady shuffling towards her felt like an inescapable tsunami of fat, like no matter how far Rin tried to walk away or around, she'd inevitably get smothered by the tide... or, belly in this case.
"If I had known such an adorable guest would be coming along today, I would have spent all day right by the doors to welcome you the second you walked in~! But, I suppose now that I'm here, I suppose I should give you a proper welcome."
The gargantuan woman chuckled, her voice smooth as velvet, and sweet as spiced wine. Reaching over, a similarly fat arm handed her a glass of champagne, the identity of the giver obscured by the enthusiastic greeter's impossibly wide hips. She had yet to set her own glass of wine down. Nonetheless, she presented Rin the glass of sparkling, cold as ice champagne, still fizzing like it had been freshly poured.
"Welcome, young lady, to The Blue Heron. I am Madam D, the maître d' of this establishment. I'll be here to answer any of your questions, and make sure you have the most wonderful time you can~"
