some of these are absolutely from my formative years. these also probably say a lot about me. annoyingly. It’s interesting some are ones i spend ages thinking ‘but… what if?’ And others are just stories I adored. Using both definitions of ships i think.

(11th would have been Chaggie! Shortlist: SamBucky as cute. Many poly ships. Spuffy - absolutely fascinating story and I loved it but more ‘study under microscope’ given some of that story and also Fuffy. Sadly, sigh, sonadow as was obsessed when I was 14. Doctor x Master). I may change my mind over which ten but hey

“Ew, dude, personal space,” Beca would complain. Usually. Even if someone sat next to her on a sofa. It was instinctive, really, Beca just… did not feel safe, absolutely not, nope nope nope.

Not right now. For weeks - months even - she’d explain it to herself that Chloe was tired, and tactile, and Beca wanted to give her safety so she was being kind. And maybe Beca was - being kind - but she knew that was a lie, deep down. That wasn’t the real reason.

She still, at first, felt the instinct to push Chloe away, because, no, touching her, absolutely not. She couldn’t trust Chloe. Chloe couldn’t trust her. Beca shouldn’t like touching her so much. That’s passed now.

She felt the weight of Chloe’s body on hers, Beca’s back against the shitty dorm room bed all poking metal, her front under chloe’s slow, safe breaths. The scent of perfume and soap, the slight shifting of Chloe’s nose against Beca’s neck. Beca’s fingers tracing the smoothness of Chloe’s back, between her shirt and her shorts.

It definitely felt personal. But Beca would open up her personal space for this. A thousand times more, she hoped.

Chloe panted, grinned. All teeth and energy. With a zip, the crimson of her blade returned to the silver and black of her hilt. “We’re not going to end this fight without someone dying.”

Beca still kept her own blade alive, the green of algae soaked seas, the light scattering across the white plastic of the ship. “That not your goal.”

Chloe almost looked offended at that. “No! I don’t want to kill you. Who cares if you’re on the… other side of the war, or whatever.”

“Huh.” Beca hated how pretty she found Chloe, the slight scratch on her face, surrounded by orange. Hated even more how much she was starting to wish Chloe wasn’t a knight of ren… or worse, that Beca wasn’t a lone Jedi.

I’m somewhat of a basic bitch I have to say… so homemade macaroni cheese. Sorry! It’s not interesting! but If I’m going out for dinner I’d choose an Indian place if I could. Paneer Madras or Masala or Korma, with onion bhaji, saag aloo, coconut naan and pilau rice. I’m hungry now!

Oh that’s a brilliant question okay.

So the first two I remember being absolutely obsessed with, were doctor who and (sadly) Harry Potter. (I was a child in the 2000s and it was everywhere in the UK and of course I liked it)

But I’m picking doctor who, as I remember engaging in fandom culture more with that - I read potter fic but with doctor who i read the theories, the meta, it was my first exposure to a lot of fandom culture. (And ew, the author of those books.)

The second - well. Glee. It hit at the perfect time, I was the right age to be obsessed, it showed me queer relationships which I’d only seen on Torchwood, and lbr, at its best it was brilliant. That’s when I started writing fic, role playing, made random friends, and that era of fandom in the early 2010s, god, glee bled into EVERYTHING. It influenced my choices, my sexuality and gender I found from it, I made friends and hooked up with someone around that time from that fandom… it was a lot.

The third… I’m not sure. You know what, I’m gonna go with two maybe answers: Star Wars, because the end of the 2010s it felt so fun, so full of creativity and shared adoration whether it was for the classics, the clone wars, the sequels, etc. Or X-Men- more the comics than the films (though I’ve enjoyed them too) as that bubbled under since I was a kid, and there’s been times I’ve been obsessed. The Krakoa era was so fun to be online, unironically.
