MovNat and Weight Gain Update
This weekend I was down in DC with my good friend Nick and Janet. Â They are always exceptional hosts and provided Cliffton (the MovNat instructor) and I with multiple primal feasts.
Dinner the first night included two huge sirloin steaks, fat untrimmed (#dontfearfat), containing at least 4lb of protein, liver and onion, shrimp, mashed sweet potatoes w/ rendered marrow, and brussel sprouts. Â This is the first time I have ever had offal (organ meat) and I must say that it was quite delicious. Â I can see how it would be pretty easy to screw up but Nick and Janet cooked it up perfectly. Â This is also the first time that I have consumed bone marrow and I must say it was pretty awesome. Â Not only were the potatoes' texture perfect they tasted freaking amazing (looking for a butcher to provide me with grass-fed marrow bones as I type this).
Breakfast on MovNat morning consisted of berries, coconut milk, bacon (of course), venison chops, and as many scrambled eggs as you could eat. Â I think that we must have consumed some ungodly amount of butter while i was down there - 2lbs?
Finally, my send off dinner was a roasted chicken, deviled eggs (w/ left over bacon), red swiss chard, and roasted tubers. Â Topping both dinners off were frozen chocolate coconut milk pops (in the shape of rocket ships)! Â How much more could I ask for. Â They were both amazing and I thank them for having me down.
The MovNat instructional was also fantastic.  Cliffton has a ton of experience under his belt and was able to demonstrate many of the movements that we should be practicing.  My only reservations were the lack of instruction while I attempt to master these movements (many participants were not able to complete the more technical movements including some climbs and balancing - myself included).  Also, the amount of material covered was staggering and it would be hugely beneficial to have some kind of guide that I can reference when I get lost.  But overall it was a great primer and I plan on working hard to build up my natural movement capacity.  I also want to attempt the 5 day boot camp in WV to get more hands on instruction!
My weight gain is still progressing well. Â I have reached my goal for the month with a ending weight of 175lbs. Â It should be noted that this was my "normal" weight before I started living a more primal lifestyle. Â I was 175 and had somewhere in the order of 18% body fat. Â I am now 175 with about 7% body fat and feel great!
This months goal will be to get to 180lbs. Â This is a little ambitious but I think that I can achieve it with a bit of support and hard work. Â Ashley is going to start working out with me and it is getting nicer outside so that means more sprint workouts and MovNat programming. Â I can't wait to climb some trees!
