This is actually the reference I use for Donia's traje de mestiza! I'm planning on doing a proper reference where she gets to wear it plus her tambourine necklase but right now it's the simple version I'm doing dsufgisgdfvs

Donia's fashion sense when not wearing the custom tailored barong tagalog and fusion pieces that her father commissioned for her is very elegant but it also has hints of an almost mama vibe

Yes that hanky is part of the reference for me because I had a whole scene where her first meeting with Gavroche also involves her having him join her in the cab ride and she gently wipes his face clean xdiugvsidufgv let me dote on my boys

Now in regards to the shoes of that time it's these lovely things

They're called bakya and I loved wearing these back then ngl I wanna try and find some bakya rn but idk where to find them TwT

Anyway Donia likes having her bakya slippers be designed with traditional flowers that she tries to pair with floral perfumes she's gifted with by her family members.

This week, we went to a new(ish) Filipino resturant that has opened up on the top floor of Kingly Court just off Carnaby Street called Donia. We feel like there's been a bit of a surge of Filipino places over the last few years in London with places like Kapihan, Mamasons, Kasa and Kin and Bong Bongs (although that has now closed). Having enjoyed a lot of them, we were keen to go give this new place a go.

First up was some pandesal. This is definitely a slightly more elevated version compared to the bakeries that we'd been to before. It came warm and both brushed with herb butter and next to a big ball of it too. The pandesal itself had a bit of crunch to it and a lovely sweetness to it; really nice!

Next up was the prawn and pork dumplings with crab. These were delicious! The dumpling wrapper was perfectly cooked with a bite to it and the flavours were incredibly more-ish.

These are on the menu as patatas but are essentially smashed potatoes. They had some really crispy bits to it where they'd been smashed a bit more and were really well seasoned.

You can't go to a Filipino place and not order lechon if it is on the menu. Compared to other lechon I've had, this definitely looked a bit fancier but was just as good. The sauce was a little sweet but very good and the pork itself was tender and juicy. The only little gripe I have with it is that the skin wasn't quite as crispy as I'd have liked. Still, a very tasty dish.

The other main that we ordered was the chicken inasal which is grilled marinated chicken. The chicken was intensely flavoured and was one of the juiciest chickens we've had in a long time! The topping of pickled onions were super tangy and went really well with the slightly creamy sauce it came with.

For dessert, we had the corn tart. Unfortunately, this was probably the most disappointing bit of the meal. The crust was just not quite as crispy as I'd like but the filling was really tasty. The crumble that came with it was also pretty good but the ice cream was pretty average.

All in all, this was a really nice meal with super tasty Filipino food. Personally, our favourites were the chicken inasal and the dumplings but it was all pretty good. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

( + ) Donia se cache dans un lieu inconnu par les deux autres régulatrices et le conseil, elle ne veut plus entendre parler de tout ça. Activement recherchée depuis près de deux siècles, elle change très souvent de dimension et se cache dans les fin fonds de celle-ci. Elle a découvert un secret important qui pourrait faire chuter la cité.
