Dominic Cooper is an English actor who has worked on both stage and screen. Cooper has appeared in From Hell (2001), Boudica (2003), The Duchess (2008, Charles Grey), The Devil’s Double 2011), My Week with Marilyn (2011), Dracula Untold (2014), The Lady in the Van (2015), Sense and Sensibility (2008), and My Lady Jane (2024, Thomas Seymour).
Cooper was born and raised in Greenwich, London and trained in drama in London.
He has shared a flat with TV host James Corden; it was Cooper who introduced Corden to his wife. Cooper has dated his Mamma Mia! Co-star Amanda Seyfried from 2008-2009. Cooper said that he almost didn’t audition for Mamma Mia!
In the film The Duchess he plays Charles Grey, who falls in love with married noblewoman Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire (Keira Knightley). “Grey was prepared to risk his career for a woman” and “as a young man he was always very assured and knew exactly where he wanted to go”.
In his spare time, he is the striker for his football team in Dulwich, he has said the team does better when he leaves the country.
