Today we protested at the George Floyd March in the Mission. I spent the last few days thinking it was the end of the world. Black People dying. White people lying. A president that is promoting death and destruction to his country. People of other colors ignoring what is going on, because “at least it’s not them...” I have to be honest I was worried for our future. Fuck it, I was fucking scared about our present. However today, the rush of human emotion in the crowd was fucking insane. Through rage and anger and passion and love, so many people of all skin tones, ages, genders, sexualities, came together and marched and chanted the same words together. I know this one experience can’t fix everything, it was the first day in a fucking long time that I had hope for our nation. People of all colors were concerned for each other. “Do you need water? A mask? Hand sanitizer? Food?” People were not being judged for their skin tones. We stood together as one to fight for the rights of the Black Community. We stood peacefully and fearlessly. We can make the nation and world change. We need to care for each other. We should stand up for our Black friends, family, and coworkers by screaming for change with them as equals. We need to be united. Thank you to everyone who stood with me during this protest. Special thanks to those who donated money to the supplies we used while out there. I am so glad I got to share this experience with you in any capacity. We peacefully protested today and it was a beautiful thing. Other cities have not been as fortunate. Police brutality is running rampant through protests around the world and it has to stop now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not ten years from now.
