Helloooo Iβm SO sorry if youβve already answered this (just ignore it if you have)-
Iβve drawn a bit of tkl art but it never seems to be in the quality I want ;/ yours is always so crisp looking! I was wondering if you could share your dimensions?
Thank you so much in advance :D πΈ
Hey there π₯° First of all, thank you so much! π I'm glad you like my art π€ I am not entirely sure what exactly you mean by "dimensions" π π I'm guessing you mean it as in file dimensions? In that case my canvas is usually rather big. I draw on DIN A4 which is one of the most common print formats in Europe. (It's basically the size of our standard copy paper and it measures 210 x 297 millimetres) Plus I always have my resolution set to 600 dpi. 300 dpi is the minimum requirement for a nice print in those exact measurements. But out of habit from my usual work as an artist that is not tk related I use the double amount. That means I can scale up my work to even print as A3 (small poster format that measures Β 297 Γ 420 mm) without loosing any quality, because even after scaling the effective dpi is still enough. So my file is 4961 x 7016 pixels in original format. To give you a feel for what that means in terms of what you see when I upload. Whenever I render my art for Tumblr I save it with about 20% of it's original size (which is roughly 990 ~ 1400 pixel). I'm not sure what's the best way to showcase this, but I'll try anyway. I will show you a side by side comparison between the 20% size render for web posts vs. my original file size. Left is web (20%) Right is original (100%)
Again another example. The upper one is 20% and the lower one is 100%.
As you might have probably guessed, the 100% files are also quite big in terms of saving space they need ππ Rendered 100% size often spans between 10 and 30 MB per file. So yeah.. you might need a bit of storage if you plan to try these kind of file measurements for yourself. (Although that is also with 100% JPG render quality. You can easily cut the size in half by using ~90-95% render quality on export and no one will truly notice anything on web. But since I am a person who usually prints her normal art I just prefer maximum quality ππβ¨) Don't even get me started on open file format sizes like .clip or .psd Those reach 100-300MB lol
So I guess part of what makes it look "crisp" is that I just draw on a really big canvas and I like to zoom in a lot to make sure I see all the little details while drawing. You can easily catch me going back and forth between full view of my canvas to 150 or even 200% zoom. I also like to use a very sharp pen for line art.
So yeah.. that's all I could think of in terms of "dimensions" ππ I hope I answered your question in a way that helps you figure out your own art better π₯° Just in case I'll link other art related asks I answered before if anyone wants to have a look. And there goes another wall of text lol π€£π₯ Anyway, have a wonderful day π§π
