doikayt or דאָיקײַט is a Yiddish word meaning "hereness" that was coined around the time the Jewish Labor Bund / דער יידישער ארבעטער־בונד formed and is directly in contrast to the zionist "thereness" of yearning for / actualizing the colonization of Palestine.

“The concept of doikayt was central to the Bundist ideology. The Jewish Labour Bund did not advocate ethnic or religious separatism, but focused on culture, not a state or a place, as the glue of Jewish nationhood, within the context of a world of multicultural and multi-ethnic countries.”

Doikayt is representative of the belief that Jews deserve to be safe wherever we are; that we are true members of our communities, cherished, beloved; worthy.

Doikayt is a constant reminder to build connections, to link arms with our fellow; to show up for one another.

In honor of these values, a portion of the profit from the sale of each necklace will be given to tzedakah or mutual aid. 

This blog is anti-censorship. This blog is anti-the cop in your brain that tells you that people are evil because they make art about things that make you uncomfortable. This blog is anti-kinkshaming. This blog is, however, pro-critiquing other people's art and critiquing fandom in general.

This blog is a doikaytnik blog. Wherever Jewish people live, that is our home, and we must work in solidarity alongside whoever lives there to repair it. We do not need a nation-state to be safe and fulfilled; in fact, nation-states are detrimental to our flourishing (that is not unique to us; nation-states are bad for human flourishing.) I prefer to phrase my beliefs in this way because saying I'm anti-zionist defines myself in terms of zionism, when I instead choose define myself in a positive way according my belief in something (doikayt.)
